BIO
Performing in one way or another since 2001, Ali initially paired up and formed a duet with Lee Potter on lead guitar. Lee was a childhood friend of Alis and in late 2001 was diagnosed with a rare form of liver disease and following deterioration to his health; at the start of 2005 it was decided that a transplant was needed. The year went by and included highlights such as the quartet of Ali, Lee, Naomi and Sam being the only acoustic act to perform on the unsigned stage at Leeds-festival 2005. At the end of the year, the call came and Lee had the transplant.
Over the early months of 2006 as Lee was at home recovering, Ali performed as many solo shows as he could, testing new songs whilst also getting a bigger band together in preparation for Lees return. Practices started happening in late March and by late April the band played their first gigs as a 7-piece. Early May saw the recording of their first EP entitled Empty Threats and Recurring Themes, a self-deprecating reference and in some ways a tongue-in-cheek put-down of Alis own lyrical subject matter. In late May and June the band performed their first UK tour and along the way supported the likes of Tilly and the Wall.
Ali has always been recognised on the Leeds circuit as one of the top acoustic acts and now, following the re-birth of his songs in a more dynamic form the band are already receiving critical acclaim from the wonderfully supportive music scene.... it is literally a matter of time before these 7 individuals are recognised on a national level.
