Born David Aspey on the 19th of December 1984 with a hair lip (hole in the roof of his mouth) with his mother having being told she’d lost him; he went through many operations as a child. By the time he had started school he got teased about his lip and had many fights growing up.When he reached the age of 7 in 1992, after weeks of drinking water and losing too much weight, David fell into a coma and was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic and came very close to losing his life.With the dramatic events in his 7 year life, he carried on living normally and never let it get him down.Primary school is where he first discovered poetry, when he constructed his first ever piece of poetry the teacher at his school awarded him for it. And put him in the school play so that he could read it out. Although a shy child David was very proud of his efforts and did his best.At the age of 12 when he first started high school, his brother (Andrew) was very much into rap music and played a tape every morning on the way to school in their fathers car. Some days they used to rap along, but their mother wasn’t so happy with the swearing. The first rap album David listened to was “2pac- me against the world†but at that time wasn’t fully into the music.At the age of 14 family tragedy struck when he lost his auntie to multiple sclerosis. It was the first funeral he attended. Later that year David’s best friend (Sean) and family moved to Australia.In David’s last years at high school he found himself becoming engrossed in rap music. And gaining the nickname “asp†when he left school he was playing football with his friends (Kevin) and (Chris) everyday. Then during the night time they would hang out under a walk bridge with a girl called Diane. Listening to music on his walkman and rapping along to the likes of “2pac†“Nas†“B.i.g†and “Eminemâ€At the age of 16 David started college where he studied computers for two years, and re-sitting maths and English GCSE. But most days would sit outside his friend’s class rooms on the stairs writing rap lyrics and poetry.At the age of 18 David got his first job working in a local factory not far from his home where he still works to this day. David got his first chance to rap in front of people when he joined a local basketball team and his coach (Charlie) said he could rap as part of an award ceremony so Asp rapped “2pac’s California loveâ€.Tragedy struck again; when David was 20 years old he lost his granddad (George) to cancer in January. And then lost his mother (Ellen) in June, She died from kidney failure and heart and liver failure.After all of this David had his 21st birthday party where his brother’s friend (David Roberts) DJ’d and Asp treated his friends and family with some more songs from his idols. Soon after they hooked up again and made some early records in David’s bedroom writing lyrics over the backing music of other artists. Which David put on MySpace where he got some good feedback.Most recently David Roberts (krazee Dave) and David Aspey (Asp) have recorded 7 tracks in a recording studio making their second mixtape which is still under construction. With plans for the future of getting signed to a major record label and one day owning his own record label for artists to develop their craft.
