Carnival of Souls

About Me

Myspace Layouts by Pimp-My-Profile.com

Carnival of Souls is a club event that runs twice a year, March and October, in Derby. It's for goth, fetish and 'alternative' people generally and is a multi-layered experience with bands, DJs, stalls, play area, set piece performances, walkabout performers and more - including the carnival-goers themselves who by custom and tradition dress to impress...

Carnivial is run by a quiet introvert called Fulani, along with an eclectic group of goths, fetish people, gays, bisexuals, transvestites, pagans and one or two people who meet four or five of those particular pigeonholes. The group includes Velvet, Carnival's chief whip (she fulfils the same function as a parliamentary party whip, but a little more literally). She's also, among other things, a writer and photographer and has her own MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/velvetmagic .

The pic you see on the left is of Mistress Peyn, one of the models for Carnival flyers (photo credit - Jonathan Wilson).

The next event is March 2009. We decided to roll over the October event in the interests of making March 2009 a bigger, better event. More news as it becomes available.

Thank you everyone!

Message for new friends!

Gratifying as it is to suddenly have a large inbox of people wanting to be friends of Carnival, we are in the rushing-about-madly phase of preparation! So it may take a day or two to process requests....

Back from holiday

We just got back from a 'holiday' which comprised a week at a pagan camp on the south coast. Not being pagan myself (despite knowing quite a few, which was why I ended up there) it was an interesting ...

It's all getting just a little busy. Apart from Carnival preparations - everything from putting new programmes into the lighting rig to ordering the posters and updating the main website (promised for...

Cosplay?

Have just discovered whole communities of people who do LRP - not as I know it, but dressing up as/acting out scenarios based on anime. Not something that I'd personally get into but it would be cool ...

I've been reading

Actually, it's re-reading stuff I first read a long time ago."A moment of life concretely and deliberately constructed by the collective organization of a unitary ambiance and a game of events."Origin...

Chilled weekend

We're still trying to catch up with ourselves, but at least the weekend was chilled. Yorkshire, at a camp with a select group of pagans, doing not a lot except the odd bit of drumming and late at nigh...
