“THE EIGHTH HOUSEâ€- SYNOPSIS(Thrilling Dark Comedy)
Jefferson Airplane Rainbow, an amateur astrologer and womanizer, believes his bad advice ruined the life of his former best friend. After escaping a sex-worshipping cult, Jefferson decides to make amends. But instead, he pushes his buddy over the edge in this seriously warped, but smart, comedic romp.AMERICAN BEAUTY meets AMERICAN PIE with a metaphysical twist. On May 5, 2000, New Age vagabond Jefferson Airplane Rainbow expects the world to come to an end. But when the leader of his Montana-based, sex-worshipping cult -- affectionately known as "Psycho Bitch" --starts killing his comrades in a genocidal ritual, he rather quickly resumes his nomadic search for the meaning of life.
Jefferson, an amateur astrologer and below-average psychic with apparent past-life recall abilities, decides his life was spared because he must resolve karma created previously with former best friend Hilton P. Tower.
In high school, Jefferson became convinced the earth would shift on its axis and end all life at the turn of the century. Hilton believed him and consequently wasted what could have been the most productive years of his life. Realizing his mistake, Jefferson returns to Utah to make everything up to Hilton.
But Jefferson's proclivity for the themes expressed by astrology's
Eighth house -- like sex, death, drugs, secret activities, revenge and
psychological transformation -- lead him down a path of lust and
betrayal. He falls in love with Hilton's girlfriend. And their affair, when discovered, unleashes the fury of a madman buried in Hilton's psyche.
A deranged Hilton leads Jefferson, the girlfriend and others on a
twisted, eighth-house trek which threatens to end the world as they
know it in a final drug-induced, revenge-inspired death spree. But when Psycho Bitch re-enters Jefferson's life, planning to kill the only witness to her Montana killings, Hilton saves the day by ending her world and purging the demons from his own.Awards: Best Screenplay, Telluride Indiefest; honorable mention, Red Inkworks Screenplay Competition; semifinalist, StudioNotes Screenplay Competition; semifinalist, Big Bear Lake Film Festival.
