About Me

Great rock and roll music Alan McGee, Radio 1
All the quirky romance of a post-Britpop trio who know their way round a tune Steve Lamacq, Radio 1
Fantastic Clare Sturgess, Xfm
drinkme are based on the long friendship between bassist Ru and guitarist Julian. Their writing partnership goes back years - school years - but it was not until they got together with guitarist Paul White and drummer Dave Rowlands in 2005 that they came together as the band drinkme. Their influences are as diverse as 70s punk and ska, 80s electronica and 90s Britpop, but it's their live performances that really set this band alight. They have headlined numerous shows at Alan McGee's Death Disco and The Queen Is Dead clubnights, Sean McClusky's Sonic Mook Experiment and Return to New York. They have played alongside The Libertines, The Others and Client to name just a few. The 2005 self-released single Manifesto got universally excellent reviews and has been used in a number of commercials and short films as well as being remixed by Shoreditch villain Whitey. Drinkme have amassed an impressive fanbase through the ubiquitous Myspace - also garnering fans through Manifesto's plays on MTV, Homechoice and the Musicians' Channel as well as through their live shows. They have a strong fanbase in Spain as well as England, selling out the 1000 strong Razzmatazz venue in Barcelona. They have been played as far and wide as New York clubs, Italian Radio and Polish MTV. Recently they played for channel four for the O2 unsigned competition in front of a panel of very scary music industry type people and sweated all over them. Lyrical savvy and danceable tunes make this band highly listenable, but it's their high energy live show that sets them apart. Ru has been electrocuted, cut open and knocked out onstage, while Julian barely keeps his feet on the floor while playing. A summer of gigs in Spain, Germany, China and, of course, Shoreditch awaits them so catch them while you can. Bring an umbrella. For more information, please contact:
