About Me

Currently living in sunny Richmond with wife Sally and daughter Samantha.

Like many people, I've been working on a novel for a while, but I've had a result in that this one is getting published. Definately a genre piece - a historical fiction set at the height of the Roman Empire, it's a tale about Gladiators - female ones, at that.

My website has some information on the subject.

To be honest, I'm not too sure about this mySpace stuff - the very beautiful Raven Kilna told me "Russ, you have to get a myspace" - so I did. I guess this is one of those things that I'll have to reverse into and see if I can get the hang of.

My Interests

Writing, author, historical fiction, wing chun, ancient greece, ancient rome, gladiatrix, history, movies, simon scarrow, david gemmell, donna gillespie, gladiator

I'd like to meet:

Fellow writers, people with an interest in ancient Greek or Roman history...Fellow film geeks. I'm not a fan of "proper cinema" it must be said. I mean, I like a good film as much as the next bloke, but if it's a toss up between Ingmar Bergman and Paul WS Anderson...Anderson wins everytime!

Music:

Manowar, Saxon, Iron Maiden, Within Temptation, Evanessence, Blackmore's Night, Film Soundtracks. And Girls Aloud. Yes, Girls Aloud.

Movies:

Superman, 300 Spartans, Gladiator, King Arthur, Aliens, Underworld, Zulu, Tomb Raider, Troy, Lord of the Rings, Spartacus, Alexander, Batman, Steven Seagal movies - the man is a legend.

Television:

Battlestar Galactica, Robin of Sherwood. The History Channel.

Books:

The Light Bearer by Donna Gillespie, the "Eagle" series by Simon Scarrow, anything by David Gemmell,

Heroes:

Seagal. Norris. Hasselhoff.

My Blog

A funny thing happened on the way to the forum

On one of the internet forums I'm addicted to, I wrote a response to post that I thought I would post here - I can rip myself off, that's fine. A zine editor had written some very erudite stuff on the...

A good heart these days is hard to find

I've just found out that I have a dodgy ticker, which is both bogus and non-non heinous. I'd love to blame it on my rock and roll life style, but the truth is it's just bad luck. I've never even been...

It's good to be plagerised

I thought this was a great idea by the very beautiful and very talented Faye L Booth, so I thought I would rip it off. After all, I'm a writer too, and if I can't rip people off, then there's no fun (...
