My name is John Stewart and I am a Green Lantern. I was born in Detroit. Michigan and was leading a lonely life until Hal Jordan gave me the opportunity of a lifetime. He gave me a power ring in issue 87 and Ive worn it since. Many people have wondered why I dont wear the mask and all the other Lanterns do, well the answer is simple, I have nothing to hide. I wore my mask for a while after I took the Guardian of Sector 2814 job away from my wife(Katma Tui) but then took it off again later on. I am architect, I create structures as they should be built, bolt by bolt. Oh did I mention that I am also a guardian. Aparently the guardians know me as "The Opener of Doors."
I am in the Justice League of America on television. I look very stylized there but the essence of me is still in the JLA character.
Up until Jordan went mad and got possessed by the evil Parallax, I have always been weak against the color yellow. When the central battery was destroyed, I had no weaknesses. Now that Jordan is back and Parallax is back in the battery, yellow still affects the ring in a negative way but since we know the cause of the impurity, we can control it.
