Music, Poiing, photography, illustration, my saxophone, my friends, meeting people (whether new friendships are forged or not), getting pumped, getting pumped with poi, meditating, chipping about, ninjas, cooking, genuinely connecting with people, writing letters, knitting, music, poiing...
You Are Midnight
You are more than a little eccentric, and you're apt to keep very unusual habits.
Whether you're a nightowl, living in a commune, or taking a vow of silence - you like to experiment with your lifestyle.
Expressing your individuality is important to you, and you often lie awake in bed thinking about the world and your place in it.
You enjoy staying home, but that doesn't mean you're a hermit. You also appreciate quality time with family and close friends.
What Time Of Day Are You?
You. Specifically? Beards (people with), spoons (admirers of, like me), cheese fiends, serial quoters, musicians, poi spinners, toi spinners, DJs, artists of any kind, new friends, dancers, Spaced lovers, crazies, ninjas, people who've succumbed to me at work or in general.
Also, Mr Scruff (ticked off the list now!), Warren Ellis, Garth Ennis, Michael Palin, Ray Mears, Bill Bailey, Bill Withers, Edgar Wright, Yoko Kanno, Spike Speigal, Spider Jerusalem!
Anything that makes me feel something. Oh, you want specifics? Anything played on Kooba Radio, Bill Withers, Quantic Soul Orchestra, Stone Temple Pilots, Stevie Wonder, Yoko Kano & The Seatbelts, Sublime, Herbie Hancock, Diana Ross, Madeline Peyroux, Bobby Gentry, Magic Numbers, Alice Russell, James Brown (RIP), The Zombies, Jetplane Landing, Goldfrapp, Johnny Cash, Blondie, The Slackers, Pure Reason Revolution, Rage Against the Machine, Pink Floyd, Ursula Rucker, DJ Format (I've met him), DJ Yoda (and him), Mr Chemist, Jim Noir, Solomon Burke, Tenacious D, Aretha Franklin, Rilo Kiley, Nina Simone, ICH, Rancid, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Parliament, Spin doctors, Funkadelic, Incubus, Mad Caddies, Sly & The Family Stone, The Beautiful South, Prodigy, Herbaliser, Rebelation, G'n'R, Toots & the Maytals, Blind Melon, Me First & The Gimmes, The Bamboos, Arrested Development, Jack Johnson, Rob Zombie, Muse, Nikka Costa.......
A mixture of indie, arthouse and things I shouldn't love but secretly do :o) My 2 favourite have to be The Dark Crystal and The Labyrinth. Closely followed by Star Wars and Rushmore, then Spring Summer Autumn Winter Spring, Princess Mononoke (anything by Studio Ghibli really), Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, Shaun Of The Dead, Secretary, The Qatsi trilogy (Koyaanisqatsi et al. And Barraka), Monty Python films... I love old king fu movies, especially Jet Li's early ones, back in the day when the plots were spiritual and kind (Fist of Legend and Twin Warriors must be mentioned here)
Also, Sunday afternoon films- Princess Bride, BASEketball, Robin Hoods (3 versions: costner/men in tights/disney), give me a good brew and i'm all set with those bad boys.
As a girl i also maintain my right to love chick flicks. I am not ashamed!!! I'm not! So lets rock this list now- Clueless, 10 Things I Hate About You, Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing (f*ck yeah!), Ever After (in fact, most films with Drew Barrymore in)Cake, Mean Girls...
is mostly doom, gloom, death, terrorism, spin, lies, live this way it will make you happier, buy this is will make you more attractive...I can feel it sucking my will to live!! I dont get the chance to watch it often and even if it's the news I get so disheartened. I mean seriously, are they even telling us the truth about anything anymore?
Getting back to the point, I'm partial to some series but I'd rather watch them on DVD. Eg: Spaced, The Green wing (despite distressing end to series 2), American Dad, Black Books, Cowboy Bebop (not on tv but I had to fit it in somewhere), Ray Mears' Extreme Survival, Michael Palin's Pole to Pole, Monty Python, Scrubs... and I havent owned a telly for more than a year!
Books are something that I neglect and shouldn't. It's probably why my mind has turned to mush over the recent years. I could blame society for cultivating my need for a quick fix from the blockbuster syringe... but it's me being lazy. I have lots of interesting books, from 'The Dharma of Star Wars' to the Tibetan Book of the dead (lots of interesting Buddhist books actually), to books on total sweetenss and ninjas, to books on sign language, autism, travelling... Michael Palin's Round the World in 80 Days and an old biography on Sigmund Freud. Also discovering Iain M Banks' stuff (wasp factory: who knew?!) and I love a bit of apocalypse- Give me some Orwell or Wyndham first thing in the morning! Day of the Triffids? Yes please! I do, however, read comics and graphic novels. This is something that's relatively new to me but I'm creating a respectable little collection. Actually, that's probably another reason why my interest in books has nosedived again! Preacher, Planetary, Y The Last Man, The Boys, Man Named Kev, Fell..... and TRANSMETROPOLITAN is AMAZING. anyone who's ever felt angry about anything EVER should read it. That means you!
Anyone who does exactly what they love all the time and feels no guilt and maintains the passion they feel... People who quit smoking and stay quit. Vegans. Oh, and Ray Mears. Seriously, the man is a genius. fact.
