John Sizos (Owner) - John has been affiliated with the store since it's early years as an amp technician for former owner Henry Kern. He became part owner when Kern sold the business in 1987. John is an authority on guitars and amps and is also technical guru .
Instructors:
Scott Ashley (guitar-mon): Scott has been involved in the Chicagoland music scene for over a decade and continues to perform locally. He has been teaching at the store for several years and is just an all around nice guy.
Dan Brill (drums-fri): Dan is known in Industrial music circles for his work in the band Acumen Nation. He's a rock/metal master, but he's a stickler for good technique and rudiments and the occasional fart joke. He also plays many other styles and percussion instruments. Anyone interested in tabla lessons?
George Brohlin(guitar mon-thurs): George does everything from Metallica to standards. Who else had his first touring gig backing up a Polynesian prince!
Mario Licciardi (guitar-wed):Mario is a great teacher and a super nice guy. It's a pity that we have to keep sending prospective students who ask for him to other teachers because he's usually booked.
Nigel Mack (guitar-mon,wed): Nigel came to the store after returning from a European tour and discovering that his old employer, Morton Grove Music, had closed. We took one look at this guy's resume and he was in. He's a reknowned slide and blues guitar master and he's got a killer accent too!
Mike McKissak (guitar-fri): Mike McKissak is Minstrel's resident shredder. He's Fastest Fingers Competition winner and a nut for theory and technique. 'nuff said.
Danny Morales (guitar-wed-fri): Danny is a classically trained guitar player who specializes in both rock guitar and classical guitar. He is very easy going and has a great sense of humor.
Randolph Montijo (operaman)(guitar-thurs, sat and vocal-fri): This guy sings opera and shreds. Try to beat that!
Dan Peters (guitar-tues): Dave is the newest new guy and has been a long time Minstrel customer. He's been teaching for years and we're sure we'll have glowing things to say once he gets settled.
Jason Steele (guitar-fri,sat): For being the youngest instructor, you would never think that Jason would be a non-chalant jazz guy, but he is. He's cool, real cool.
Don Yurisich (drums-tues,thurs,sat): Don has been performing and teaching forever. He's a pro.
John Zelisko (guitar-mon,wed,fri) John is another seasoned Minstrel vet. He is known for his enthusiasm, joviality, and specializes in jazz and classical guitar but mainly jazz.
Repair Staff:
Scott Beran (guitar): You'd be hard pressed to find a friendlier or more laid back guy at Minstrel Music. His work is just great and he's always willing to make adjustments to meet a customer's needs.
Dean Tremont (guitar): Dean is like Scott on crack (not literally, of course). He's nice, but also very fun and outgoing. He knows a hell of a lot about guitars - because he builds them, and will go out of his way to make sure that a customer is satisfied with his work. Also, he's at the store perpetually so he's almost always on call.
Roger Eddington (amplifiers and electronics): Roger has been a tech at minstrel for 14 years. If you think he's a crusty old man -- um... well look do you want your amp fixed or not? Kidding aside, Roger is a tube amp specialist, and does some sick mods. He'll fix your solid state stuff too, just don't ask him for his opinion on how it's built. He'd also probably like a plug for his country band Easy Louise. There you go Roger.
John Sizos: Just as stated at the top John is THE GURU. He does not do repairs as frequently as other techs so you must request him specifically, if you want his services.
Sales Staff:
Mike Vujasin (manager): Mike has been at the store for eight years, and he knows his stuff - guitars, amps, you name it. His specialty though is recording and live sound. He should know he does it for a living at Signal Sound Source studios when he's not at the store. We don't know how long Mike will be around because that dread locked guitar monster just put out an album (Verses From The White Room by BeneathMe) and he'll probably be a big rock star soon.
Nick Mungari: Nick is an Italian Stallion. He's suave and he plays blues like Stevie Ray. Sorry gals he's got a girlfriend.
Dom Burdi: You may have known Dom as the guy with the Grizzly Adams beard, but he got his beard caught in a snowblower, and it's much more manicured now. He also enjoys ska punk and long walks on the beach. If you have his number call him sometime. Oh yeah, and wastebasket rocks.
Usha: She's a real sweetheart. Aren't those tattoos and steeltoes just adorable.
Dana: Dana is the newbie so we give her a hard time. She'll get the hang of everything soon enough, though.
