About Me
If you know anything about Punk Rock--in Europe, the U.S. or the rest of the
world, you know the name K.G.B. KGB formed in 1980 in the Swabian university
town of Tübingen, located in Southern Germany, 25 miles from Stuttgart.
The
anacronym K.B.G. has changed in meaning over the years--from "Kein Grund zur
Beruhigung" (No Reason to Be Calm) to "Korrupt Gierig Bestechlich" (Corrupt,
Greedy, Bribe-takin'), just name of a few examples. The most active time of the
band was in the second half of the '80s. They booked their own tours in the U.S.
and throughout Europe, usually working along side the American Punk band TOXIC
REASONS.
Over the years, K.G.B has played with almost everyone under the
sun--STIFF LITTLE FINGERS, THE TOY DOLLS, BAD RELIGION, BOLLOCK BROTHERS,
RUBBERMAIDS, DIMPLE MINDS, MDC, UPRIGHT CITIZENS, etc.
Their classic album cover
art was usually drawn by the famous German comic artist, PETER PUCK.
K.G.B. is
still cranking out new records and touring in Europe, and, to celebrate their 25
year anniversary, they released the LP "Fiesta Fiasko", which includes a DVD
film documentary about the band and its history.
K.G.B. is a Punk Rock classic. If you are a fan of THE DEAD KENNEDYS, CIRCLE
JERKS, RANCID or NOFX, you have add K.G.B. to your record collection--if you
haven't done it already!!
