The song is coming along wonderfully and I'm having a blast!!! I love hearing it come together. John is just so great to work with He really knows his stuff and he is so supportive. AND he has agreed to be my "Slash" and play guitar on the song! I can't wait to hear that!!! He is an amazing guitarist. It's like he's channeling something from another world when he plays! Mercy!! He is also going to provide some of the vocals. Oh, yeah...The next step is to bring in the "choir". That ought to be real interesting... Stay tuned...

For the past two summers, Melissa Fitzgerald (of "The West Wing") has volunteered with International Medical Corps (IMC) to help people in Uganda displaced by that country’s two-decade old civil war. Her first trip is the subject for her short film "Hope Not Lost". which will be screened.As well as a preview of footage from the documentary that was filmed on her second trip entitled "Voices of Uganda".In addition to screening the films, the actors will present monologues written by Ugandan teens describing their experiences in the rebel war and at the camps. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I booked an Alltel commercial today. It was all kind of crazy! Booked it today, wardrobe fitting on Sunday and filming on Monday! Merry Christmas to me!! YAY!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I'll Be The One" is the title of a song the was written for me by the multi-talented artist, Roland Vega . It was his gift to me for the documentary film, " Voices of Uganda ". While there is no guarantee that it will be used for them film, (it's a pretty good bet though) the single will definitely be used in a fund raising capacity of some sort."I'll Be The One" is being produced by uber-musician John R. Luisitana.
I will be going to Uganda in July, for three weeks to work on a documentary film entitled Voices of Uganda. Voices of Uganda is a documentary film that will follow Voices in Harmony as they take their unique theater program to Northern Uganda. The result will be a compelling film that illuminates the unique situation facing teenagers in war-torn Northern Uganda.
First, the Voices team and the film crew will travel to a pre-determined IDP camp in Northern Uganda. Over the course of a month, the mentors will implement the Voices program and work with groups of teenagers to turn their stories into two one-act plays that will then be performed by the teenagers themselves for their peers in the camps.
For the second phase, the team will return to Los Angeles with footage from the theatrical process, as well as stories from former abducted child soldiers and sex slaves who cannot appear on camera. Those stories, written into monologues by professional writers, will be performed by a diverse group of high-profile actors, including Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Marlee Matlin, Janel Moloney, and Martin Sheen. The result will be a compelling feature-length documentary with personal accounts, live performances, monologues, music, and dance. The Voices team will seek worldwide distribution of this film so that this crisis can receive the global attention necessary to initiate change.
Voices in Harmony is a Los Angeles based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to working with economically disadvantaged and at-risk youth on theater programs since 1995. The Voices team, led by co-founders Melissa Fitzgerald and David Ackert, is comprised of creative professionals, including actors, writers, and directors, who mentor children using acting exercises as catalysts for self-expression.
