I…. Have a commitment to beauty, while the news media focus's on the harsh realities-the tragedies and brutalities of human behavior- I choose to focus on beauty. Fashion Photography presents an idealized world. I love fantasy: the idea of beautiful people dressed in elegant clothing in sumptuous surroundings. I expect people, want to "live" in my photographs - or at least fantasize about being in them. Fashion Photography is not portraiture. The true Portrait photographer tries to capture the personality of the subject. I have found, however, that the truth is not what a person is looking for when he or she commissions a portrait. I can create realistic, artistic portrait - but if it does not show the subject off to his or her best advantage, it may not delight my client, after all, wants to look attractive. My true beliefs are "when you shoot a dress, what you are really selling is what it feels like to wear that dress"; you're selling romance not reality.
For these reasons, I embrace the idealization that is the essence of fashion photography. I also like to order out of chaos, Striking models, glamorous clothes, beautiful figures, strong colors, different fabrics…..These are the elements I bring together into an unexpected unity: the finished photograph. I transfer my own taste into a visible reality on film
Like most other photographers, I choose to enter the field of fashion. I am drawn to its prestige and glamour. Attractive faces and alluring garments are part of the make-believe world from which most models seduce their audience. And this business involves long hours, continual rejection, intense pressure, tight deadlines and explosive tempers.
As a fashion photographer, I also have to be alert to trends- preferably not after they happen, but just before. For a good fashion photographer these skills are second nature.
