About Me

GORE STORY
Founding BOHREN - members Thorsten Benning, Morten Gass, Reiner Henseleit and Robin Rodenberg started playing music together in 1988.
This Pre - BOHREN - era featured bands like CHRONICAL DIARRHOEA, 7 INCH BOOTS and MACABRE FARMHOUSE which played a metal-based hardcore in different varietys.
Driven by the idea of a more unique style of music, they formed BOHREN (german word for drilling) in 1992. As BOHREN they created an unholy ambient mixture of slow jazz ballads, BLACK SABBATH doom and down tuned AUTOPSY sounds.
1993 BOHREN recorded their debut 7”ep for Suggestion Records, in the same year they added “& THE CLUB OF GORE” to their name (to honour the dutch instrumental masters GORE).
1994 BOHREN released their first longplayer “gore motel”, followed by “midnight radio” in 1995, both on Epistrophy Records.
1996 Reiner Henseleit left the band.
In 1997 Christoph Clöser joined BOHREN and in this cast the band recorded the albums “sunset mission” (2000), “black earth” (2002) and “geisterfaust” (2005) for the Hamburg-based label WONDER.

Influences: Absolute darkness. Forms of frozen horror creep through the night. The cracks of the cellar floor widen with each over-extended thud of brushes and double bass. They might have thrown groovy dance parties here once. Or maybe, right at this spot, a drunken kiosk owner may have killed his wife with a stamp collection album. Who knows where those dark red stains come from?
Sounds Like: As BOHREN they created an unholy ambient mixture of slow jazz ballads, BLACK SABBATH doom and down tuned AUTOPSY sounds.
