Christopher Raleford: Once he was Tarzan, then Scissors but is now known to the Caribbean, North American region and England radio audiences as ..CHELLO... Born in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, JAMAICA in an area where top musicians and artists lived and were frequent.Chello began to recognize his talents at about 8 years young. He remembers performing other peoples.. songs that were hits at the time for his friends and relatives. It was however not until the mid 1980..s while attending the St. Joseph Private High School; he began to take his music seriously as a DJ under the name Tarzan. It was at this time Chello met Aquaman known today as Writer'iley (ceo) of Music Doc Records and Chrisie-D known today as Chris Thomas (ceo) of Powermix Record Entertainment Group, Inc., After ripping many a school concerts doing their individual act, they immediately teamed up.Chello and his friends formed a group called S.A.C. Chello went on to ply his trade with SAC for the rest of his high school life doing schools and community concerts. After high school Chello's group teamed up with Bobby Smith to do cabaret shows at the Wyndham and Courtleigh Manor Hotels and the Epiphany Night Club in the uptown area of Kingston Jamaica. These performances assisted in giving Chello the experiencehe so needed. He would get reviews in the main papers after these performances. During this period, the members in Chello's group continued their solo careers.In 1991, Chello received his first single called ..Sweet Shelly.. produced by Tinga Stewart. It became the anthem for Angela Burns on the Irie FM program. She would open her program with the track "Sweet Shelly" for over three weeks consecutively. This gave Chello the opportunity of having the radio audience hearing his talent. This also caused Chello to become the artist of focus on the "Our Choice Records" label which was operated by Aquaman at the time. Our Choice Records immediately released "Lip Service" and "The Mobster" two singles that got Chello to be more intimately known among audiences, industry personanalities and artists alike.During the early 1990's Chello friends from SAC migrated to the US. Chello continued his solo career. Chello teamed up with Grizzly Cat from the Shorelines Gang to do some singles. Chello was still recording under the name Scissors up to the time. Grizzly convinced him to change his name to depict his sound so they came up with the name CHELLO. (the name of a musical instrument) Chello wasted no time to run with the new name, sound and image.Chello then went on to release the single "Broken Heart" produced by Coxsone Dodd Jr. Chello released the single "How yu like mi now" on his independent record label Squad M.O.B Music. This single is already getting radio play and attention in Jamaica, Antigua and Trinidad & Tobago. Chello is presently working with Powermix Records Entertainment Group Inc., his family tree, and traveling the Caribbean doing concerts and promoting his music.Listen good to this musical instrument: CHELLO.
