Anima (KI) - new age progressive

About Me

The history of the band Anima begins with a hard/rock band called Armadillo. Many Kikinda's musicians have gone in and out of Armadillo, and the band had done dozens of gigs in Kikinda (Dom Omladine, cafe bar «Garfield», Dom JNA, New Year's Eve 2004.,...) and Novi Sad (Hard Rock Club), and also a 7-track demo recorded in studio «Bit» in Kikinda. Armadillo falls apart near the end of 2004, and Anima begins it's work. Anima has been founded by Vanja Grastic (guitar) and Imre Nemeth (drums), both determined to start making music liberated of all the pressures and rules, just whatever comes within their souls... A few days later, Marko Pecanac (a vocalist with whom they've already cooperated in some of Kikinda's bands) joins the band. These three become the core of the band, and start working hard to put together all the ideas the band came up with. Precisely, those ideas, and the ways they've been presented, encounter unbelievably positive critics from the people able to hear them. It was clear that the band has gone further from the point where it was just a project, and a decision is made - the songs must be recorded. Branislav Kolarski (keyboard player of the Kikinda's band Amentes) joins the band as support. Towards the end of April, the band starts with recording sessions in studio "Bit", with their friends and producers Boris Gvozden, and Tomislav Tatic. At the end of June, recording and producing of the material ended, and Daniel Kis (bass guitar) joins the band (bass lines in the studio were recorded by Vanja Grastic). The demo, besides the initial line-up, stars: Raed Abu-Haija (violin), Nemanja Nedeljkov (back vocals), Branislav Kolarski (keyboards and growl vocals), Branislav Ugrinov (narrator)... After the concert in Zrenjanin with the band Demether and the Refuse/Resist 4 festival in Kikinda, Mateja Kojadinovic (keyboards) joins the band, so the line-up becomes complete... With this line-up, band has played in Kula, Novi Sad, on the Motocyclist meetings in Kikinda, Becej, Belgrade,... On the 9th September of 2006, the band was invited to play as support to the legendary band Time & Dado Topic on concert in Kikinda.
The band is concertly active at present...
