Yesterday is history today is a gift; that’s why they call it, the present. And tomorrow well tomorrow is what the current regime in Rap music isn’t too welcoming of. You tell me; when was the last time that you’ve watched a veteran pass the torch to his successor without a fight? Its never going to happen; not in sports and definitely not in Rap Music, where the average age of the upper-echelon emcees sits on 33.
The year is 2007; it’s not about being the future anymore. The truth is - you can’t place a time frame or boundaries on the future. So being as such is uncivilized. The young man that is about to change the complexion of how Rap music is received is so excited about what’s ahead of him, he’s become an insomniac. He is tomorrow; but for all extensive purposes, you can call him Priceless.
Born in Richmond, Virgina; with Newark, New Jersey as his stomping grounds; and Petersburg, Virginia as his second home, Abdul-Haleem Bakr Russell better known as Priceless, is the embodiment of the East Coast in every sense of the word. His overall drawl is noticeable yet clear in interpretation. His presence has already established himself with young ladies across the globe (thanks to Myspace: myspace.com/pricelessempire) as a heartthrob in the making. And the diligence and professionalism that the 20 year old lyrical technician exudes in the recording studio and on stage is proof that his soul has inhabited this earth before.
Priceless had the opportunity of logging in studio-time with the highly decorated producer Corey Cannon (Innercore Productions, A very exclusive producer in Durham, NC), the last weekend of April 2006 in NC. Corey’s colleagues know of the successful producer as not being easily impressed or enthused during his studio sessions. But once Priceless had the lyrics for "Catch Me In Da Hood", written and recorded in less than 30 minutes, Corey was impressed. He was so impressed that he wouldn’t allow for Tomorrow to leave the studio without creating another sparkler. Thirty minutes later, Priceless penned and recorded, Truth Hurts, an instant work of art with his female fan base.
Priceless is also getting involved in his community. "Man, I’m just trying to make a better tomorrow for not only my family, but for my community", Priceless expresses whole heartedly. "I just want for everybody to know that Tomorrow is coming. Don’t get it twisted; this is not a campaign. If you’re young and bettering yourself through schooling, training, community service, etc. you’re tomorrow right along with me. Let’s just get out here and make believers out the generations before us, which have already given up on us."
