Riga Groove Electro (RGE) is a band of famous Latvian jazz musicians who are actively working as producers, composers and outstanding instrumentalists in the field of contemporary jazz music. ------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------RGE music style: electro jazz, groove, drum & bass, funky with free jazz elements. Within last few years RGE has performed in several jazz and music festivals in Latvia and abroad: Jazz Kaar – Estonia; Klaipeda Jazz – Lithuania;Saulkrasti Jazz – Latvia; Rigas ritmi – Latvia; Summertime – Latvia; Kinotour – Ukraine; Pori Jazz – Finland; Saxophonia – Latvia.RGE has made several recodings: „Grant a Dream”, charity Project for children; „Shades of Kiss“ ,a project of singer Intars Busulis; „Nordic Spring“ – Nordic and Baltic folk songs in jazz arrangements „Jazz – Latvia 2008“, midem ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------RGE has developed its international experience by cooperating with many foreign musicians, working both in studios and organizing live performances. To mention few of them, Sofia Rubin (Estonia), Neff Irizarry (USA/ Finland), Valerius Ramoška (Lithuania), Brian Melvin (USA), Simona Moreno (Sweden), Raul Soot (Estonia), Rio Kawasaky (Japan), Andres Hofstone (Sweden), Toomas Ruul (Estonia), Federico Casagrande (Italy), Graeme Flowers (UK), James Werts (USA), David Lyttle (UK), Eduard Akulin (Lithuania), Peter Barshay (USA), etc. ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------- In 2007/2008 RGE is on a concert tour within the project „Baticness“ performing in 11 metropoles around the Baltic Sea region with national guests – Tallinn (Villu Veski, Sofia Rubina), Helsinki (Jukka Eskola), Saint Petersburg (David Goloshokin), Stockholm (Karl Martin Almquist, Ulf Adaker), Oslo (Erling Wicklund), Reykjavik (Seth Sharp), Copenhagen, Berlin, Warsaw, Vilnius, Riga – with guests from the respective countries. At the end of this project a new recording „Balticness“ will be released consisting of a piece of RGE original work or concerted national folk song from each of 11 concerts.Besides concerts and performances abroad, RGE musicians take active part in different music projects, TV shows, charity events, theatre plays, etc. To listen to their live performances in Riga, look for Sunny Terrace or Bastejs.---------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------- As far as the RGE is not only a great team of musicians having similar musical ideas, they are also very much eager to contribute to the development of Latvian jazz music and work as professional teachers in different music schools and colleges in Latvia (Riga Doms Choir’s School, J.Medinš Music College, Ventspils Music College etc). Moreover, every year RGE musicians participate in international workshops abroad (Estonia, Ukraine, Spain, Lithuania, Germany, USA), and organize jazz, improvisation workshops for young musicians in Latvia (Staicele).
