Nikki Dimage (DIMAGE MUSIC)

It's ALL about the music.

About Me

I started playing music in 1976 when my Mother signed me up for piano lessons. After 4 years I switched to playing Saxophone in school. I picked up the guitar at age 14 and haven't really put it down since!
MY music may not be complex, heavy, dark or anything new. Some might even call it "dated" but it is genuine. I write from the heart. Usually about life and love. Just old time "feel good rock" like BOSTON, JOURNEY, etc. I am not trying to be the next big thing. I just do what I do and if people like it.... great. If they don't....well they can go listen to Nickelback! Not that they aren't a good band and don't deserve their success, it's just that the "modern" style of rock is just not "ME". Through Myspace I get messages from people all over the world telling me that my music "moves them". That's all the fullfillment I need as an artist. Sure it would be great to have a platinum album but not unless it happened on my terms. It's not arrogance, it's just being true to myself as a musician, songwriter and a person. So thank you to all of you who do enjoy and support my music because it's NOT going to change!
A BIT OF MY HISTORY:
It's no "Behind The Music" but here's my story!
1983 - 1990:
I played in many bands that went no where!"Paying my dues" like most, starting with my High School talent show, then moving on to parties and street scenes and eventually sharing the stage with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members LYNYRD SKYNYRD.
1990:
DIMAGE, my first truly professional band was formed.
Orginal lineup:
Nikki Dimage: Guitar / Keyboards / Backing Vocals
Brian Azbell: Drums / Backing Vocals
Jason Staton: Guitar / Backing Vocals
Russ Kahle: Bass
Scott Board: Lead Vocals
Vocalist Scott Board was a true veteran after 11 years of being a member of CEREBUS.
CEREBUS released their debut album, "Too Late To Pray" in 1986 and it charted well in Germany. The band was offered big tours such as opening for the SCORPIONS but with basically little or no tour support from the label, the band was unable to make it to Europe. However, CEREBUS has become a cult classic band in the past 20 years and "Too Late To Pray" has finally been released on CD through Shark records.
1992:
With the help of great management through 32nd Street Entertainment and Underground Entertainment, DIMAGE landed opening shows for the likes of SURVIVOR and TRIXTER. DIMAGE also headlined premier clubs in the Southeast. At a TESLA / FIREHOUSE show a demo was given to Bill Leverty of FIREHOUSE who called 2 days later impressed with the demo. He offered advice and support as DIMAGE continued to gig and record.
1992:
Through the help of C&C Concerts, DIMAGE landed a landmark opportunity. A gig that very few unsigned bands ever get. On the 4th of July, DIMAGE plays an outdoor festival with the likes of NANTUCKET, DEREK TRUCKS, FOGHAT, JACKYL and the headlining act, Rock 'N Roll hall of fame members LYNYRD SKYNYRD! I will be posting video footage of that show soon. The attendance was around 20,000 people when DIMAGE hit the stage mid - afternoon. The band was receiving radio airplay, doing radio interviews, getting our demos into the hands of A & R reps with major labels such as EPIC and getting some good press. All of which were not easy accomplishments before this internet thing we all now enjoy! It appeared that the planets were aligned but......here comes a thing called "GRUNGE"!
1993:
It's ALL OVER! Overnight it seemed! Attendance at our shows was down and all the labels had to say was, "great band, great songs but we can't market this stuff anymore"! DIMAGE performed their last show in December of 1993.
It took over a decade to really get over missing that "big break" but I finally "went back" to being that kid that just simply wanted to be in a band and realized that it was all about the music. Not about the potential for fame and fortune. With a new resolve, new perspective on life and music and now with a family of my own I returned to music and did what I always dreamed of doing: Recorded a "real" album.
.
2005:
LINE OF FIRE / TRIBUNAL RECORDS
2007:
LIBERTY 'N JUSTICE - INDEPENDENCE DAY / LNJ Records. Shawn Pelata (vocalist for LINE OF FIRE) and I recorded "MySacrifice" for this compilation which also featured known 80's artists such as Janie Lane of WARRANT, Jack Russell of GREAT WHITE and my Myspace bud from the U.K., Tony Mills (Formerly with SHY and now with TNT). It was really cool to be on an album with these great singers. An added bonus is the fact that Kevin Chalfant of 707, THE STORM and TWO FIRES actually produced our track and sang backing vocals on it as well!
2008:
DIMAGE: It Takes Time: 1991 -1993 / DIVEBOMB RECORDS
DIMAGE EP orginally recorded in 1991. It includes 5 bonus demos as well as live video footage of the band. Street date is July 15th 2008.
TRIBUNAL is set to release LOF's 2nd album in September of '08.MySpace has proven to be "THE PLACE" for bands and rock music fans. It has been invaluable in promoting my band LINE OF FIRE and my former band, DIMAGE
LINE OF FIRE is: Nikki Dimage / Shawn Pelata / Ed Darst.
Thanks for all the response and support from all my friends at My space.
Sincerely-Nikki Dimage (2008)

LINE OF FIRE's sophomore effort "MOMENTUM" is slated for release later this year.

DIMAGE's EP from 1991 "IT TAKES TIME 1991 - 1993" will be released on DIVEBOMB RECORDS July 15 2008

North Carolina was never thought of as the “hot bed” of melodic hard rock in the late 80’s and early 90’s. But looking back to 1991 DIMAGE was an energetic, captivating and dynamic metal/hard rock act that never truly got it’s due. Just as the band was building up steam in the Southeast opening for such acts like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Survivor, Trixter, Nantucket and Jackyl the hard rock scene was ultimately destroyed by the rise of “grunge.” So until now DIMAGE’s recorded works have remained buried away. It Takes Time: 1991-1993 is the first time their original 6 track demo is being unearthed. We have also included bonus tracks from all other demos DIMAGE recorded during their career. If you are a fan of QUEENSRYCHE, WHITESNAKE, FIREHOUSE and DOKKEN you will love this gem from North Carolina’s hard rock past. DIMAGE featured Nikki Dimage: Guitar / Keyboards / Backing Vocals, Lead Vocalist, Scott Board, of cult metal band CEREBUS, Brian Azbell: Drums / Backing Vocals, Jason Staton: Guitar / Backing Vocals and Russ Kahle: Bass
