About Me

"Will it take a funeral to open your eyes and see that life is beautiful?!"

could be described as a multidimensional, contemplative, intuitive, enthusiastic, spontaneous, ambitious, focused, resilient, self-mocking, easy-going, down-to-earth, adventurous, optimistic, energetic, fiery redhead with a strong sense of self-awareness and ego-subordinate identity, a passion for present moment awareness, creativity, constructive energy and positive change, diversity, and a peaceful, joyful, purposeful and courageous existence. have somehow developed a delicate yet harmonious balance of a fast-paced, complicated and modernistic external life with a reflective, artistic and spiritual cultivation of the soul. possessing myriad diverse interests and influences, i'm a bit of a paradoxical amalgamation of heterogeneous elements...welcome to my world, my friends!...the lair of the red lion ...
as one of my many kindred spirits, Scotty Roberts , author, artist and chivalrous rescuer of distressed damsels, so eloquently and aptly stated on his page, “My life is a paradoxical roller coaster of hellacious joy and insightful befuddlement, and were it not for my buoyant, easy going nature, I would most assuredly have lost my sanity ... I am a contemplative, spiritual man of consideration who values intelligence, wit, justice and touch ... were times different, I would most probably be known wide and abroad as an expert swordsman ... I prefer employing words over weapons, wit above profanity, spirituality above religion, stalwartness above inconstancy. And as I grow older, my burgeoning jaded cynicism is wholly tempered by my desire to not become an ass. My humor is wry, my mind is fertile, and my love is deep.” (couldn't have said it better myself...thnx scotty!)
while perhaps an enigmatic and idiosyncratic individualist who doesn't fit neatly into generalized categories, i suppose i do share some common elements with the renaissance man, the swashbuckler, the romantic, the thinker, the writer, the rocker, the cowboy, the outdoorsman, the goof, et al. i would strongly discourage one from trying to analyze me, as others have undoubtedly nearly lost their sanity in their futile attempt, including myself! basically, i’m really just a constantly learning/growing and very blessed, positive and contented work-in-progress exploring and journeying through the ubiquitous hills and occasional "valleys" of life, aware that i am only but a small part of something far greater than myself, and who is very grateful to God for the continued opportunity to snatch, seize, savor and get high on every magical moment of the blissful 'now'! there but for the grace and power of God go i...soli deo gloria...
What Color Is Your Aura?
Your aura shines Red!
Take this quiz !
(incidentally, is it any wonder why i've been avoiding all the surveys floating around myspace ... a few of them may be fairly accurate, like this one, but no one seems to know how to spell anymore)

"I live in the here and now, always conscious of my active presence within the universe and of my work on earth. I no longer worry about the future and I stop living in the past. I am at one with my thoughts, my words, my deeds. I trust, for I know that all comes to me at the right moment, when I am ready."

Music:

an incorrigibly eclectic mix of hard rock, southern rock, progressive rock, art metal, flamenco, tango, indian, arabic, peruvian, native american, gospel, romantic and impressionistic classical, classic instrumental jazz (esp sax or trumpet ballads), ambient, etc ... pretty much anything except opera, punk, emo, goth, psychedelic, teen pop, death metal, gangsta rap or thumpy club music ... in my car I've been jammin' to Lenny Kravitz, Keith Urban, Nickelback, Sting, U2, Live, The Tea Party, Niyaz, Audioslave, Eagles, Black Crowes, Creed, Dream Theater, Breaking Benjamin, Seal, Anoushka Shankar, Ra, Chris Daughtry, John Mayer, King's X, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sevendust, and Claude Challe ... at home I've been chillin' to Coleman Hawkins, Chris Botti, Hossam Ramzy, Chopin, Strunz and Farah, Simon Shaheen, Paco De Lucia, Miles Davis, Radio Tarifa, Axiom of Choice, Astor Piazzola, Michael Hedges, Al Di Meola, Jack Johnson, Debussy/Ravel/Faure/Satie, et al.

Movies:

mainly drama, mystery/thriller, period, literary, action/adventure, classic hollywood, foreign, film noir, and some comedies (sci-fi/fantasy usually doesn't do much for me and horror is for sick puppies) ... some favs are Dead Poets Society, Fearless, Don Juan DeMarco, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Seahawk, Captain Blood, The Legend/Mask of Zorro, Kingdom of Heaven, The Last Samurai, Oceans 11/12, The Saint, Spy Game, Bourne Identity, MI3, and Rattle and Hum ... also enjoy Deja Vu, Frequency, The Matrix, Intolerable Cruelty, Out of Sight, Before Sunrise, From Russia with Love, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Chocolat, Holiday (1938 version), Shine, Master and Commander, The Truman Show, Ransom, A Beautiful Mind, The Patriot, Shadowlands, Mistress of Spices, Paparazzi, Twelve Monkeys, The Score, The Fugitive, I am David, Top Gun, Zoolander, Paheli, Shawshank Redemption, Titanic, Rebel Without a Cause, Arabian Nights, Italian Job (the original), The Phantom of the Opera, Three Stooges episodes, The Peacemaker, Meet the Parents, Groundhog Day, Dodge City, Santa Fe Trail, The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe ... really, i'm not a big movie watcher, and i don't know/care much about the hollyweird scene, who's doing what/who, or who's a "success"/"failure" ... i just like to see an inspiring, interesting or entertaining movie from time to time

Television:

no time/interest (haven't had broadcast in over a decade & that's served me well in many ways) ... nobody on his deathbed wishes he had sat in front of an unimaginative, uninspiring and mindless box more during his life ... consider turning off the tv ( AND MYSPACE , or whatever) and SEIZE THE DAY! ... you only get so many of them and who knows when the last one will be! life is far too short to invest significant spectator time ... get down from the bleachers, venture out on to the playing field of real life, and be a player where the action is! ... you'll be glad you did!...

"Life doesn't imitate art. It imitates bad television."
- Woody Allen

Books:

far too many to list, wouldn't know where to start ... classics, biographies, true adventure, inspirational, theology, philosophy, psychology, art, photography, travel, ancient civilizations, poetry, personal development and spiritual growth, health and fitness, etc.

random recommended books: jon gordon's 'energy addict'

& fabian perez's 'waiting for the romance to come back'

Heroes:

both all and none ... all honorable, noble, humble, intelligent, passionate, well-adjusted, courageous and constructive souls who think for themselves and continually co-create positive change in their lives and those of others ... and, really, none, as life and personality are not entirely without shadow and all of us inevitably make poor choices at some time(s) and disappoint on some level(s) ... though attention should always be focused on strengths/positives and more of same will be manifested and base human thoughts, emotions and actions will be counterbalanced ...
(don't think much of the human 'hero' construction, and i've always been kind of partial to the anti-hero anyway.)
"It is better to trust in God than to put confidence in man."
– Psalm 118:8 (center verse)
