Minnesota-based songwriter and guitarist Rene Erickson has released Riptide, his first CD. As with anything meaningful in life, Riptide is about the girl, and this disc is a chronicle of his relationship with one special woman. Riptide was a labor of love; or in this case, love lost.
Rene originally envisioned singing lead vocals on Riptide, but he soon realized that he wanted to make a disc that he and others might actually want to listen to, so he enlisted the vocal talents of international touring musician Jason Peterson DeLaire . Sarah Maree provided the silky backing vocals and there is a special appearance by the phenomenally talented Kaytee on Can’t There Be Enough Love.
Other Minnesota musicians appearing on Riptide include plucky bassist Mike Robinson and powerhouse drummer Brian Johnson, with strings delivered by local recording and performing mainstays Carolyn Boulay (violin) and Diane Tremaine (cello). Guitar phenom Reynold Philipsek provided the string arrangement for Moving to Florida.
