About the Songs (Liner Notes)
scott peckenpaugh fronted and wrote for the powerpop/punk band THE CUTOUTS in the early 80s. after they broke up, he continued to write and play music, but usually only for himself and friends -- only very rarely did he perform in public. he tried to do the 9 to 5 office, home, wife and family american conformity thing, but it just didn't fit. after 9/11, and the passing of his father, scott felt an urgent need to return to his soul and true calling. a friend heard some old tapes of his and insisted on buying him a guitar. inspired by EVIL BEAVER , especially evie evil's use of effects on her bass, he soon picked up an amp and a multi-effects pedal, and began performing again. playing an acoustic guitar, amplified and enhanced with effects, his voice and lyrics laid his heart out raw and naked on the stage; scott created a new and unique punk/folk sound, and found his friends becoming fans, and his fans becoming friends. later, another friend offered to buy him a computer, saying: "it's not often you get a chance to help make your friends dreams come true." using the power of modern technology to blend textured arrangements with the organic resonances of his vocals and guitar, he has created a unique alternafolkpunktronica hybrid, enhanced by a voice that one fan says has a depth "that is like a shaking of the soul."
scott is open to collaborating with other musicians, possibly starting a new band. if you're interested, send a message. he's also available for gigs in the chicago area -- again, just send a message.
BONUS SONG: many people have told me that this is their favorite cut on Year of the Dog, and i always wanted to share it with my friends and fans on myspace. alas, the file was too large to put up on the myspace player. but now, thanks to bmuze.com, you can listen to it right here! -- scott

Sounds Like: MAYBE....if you took all of the above and put them into a blender, added a dollop of sour cream and a couple drops of spank-my-ass-and-call-me-sally hot sauce, it MIGHT taste a bit like scott's music. you tell us: listen to the songs on this page and see if you can say who or what they sound like. then send us a message. for that matter, we're not completely convinced that the genres listed at the top of the page are completely accurate either. tell us in what genre(s) you would place scott's music. if we can get any kind of consensus, maybe that will help us make the descriptions on this page more accurate and apropos.
