Duncan House
When I got engaged, I wanted a unique ring, so my husband sourced beautiful stones from Australia and I had them made into a ring of my own design (celtic theme) made by Duncan House on the Isle of Skye. It captured a piece of both of our countries, Australia and Scotland, in one ring. Take a look at his web pages and tell me you aren't impressed by his workmanship. Thank you Garth.
My engagement ring: My photography doesn't do it justice at all.
For my wedding ring, I had the honour of being given my husband's great-grandmother's wedding band (by Aunt Bet, thank you)
People who inspire me. Friends I have 'met' through myspace. All the R&G ers.
My Granny: The most wonderful person this world could ever know.I miss her very much. She came from a beautiful island called Raasay where I spent nearly all my childhood holidays with her. Gaelic was her mother tongue and indeed she did not speak english until she went to school. Her sister, my great Aunt has written a wee book called "Whirligig Beetles and Tackety Boots" telling of their way of life as they grew up on a small island called Eilean Tigh at the north end of Raasay.

The Dark Island (c), words by Stewart Ross
In the years long gone by when I first left my home,
I was young and I wanted the wide world to roam,
But now I am older and wiser you see,
For that lovely dark island is calling to me
Though I've wandered away from the land of my birth,
And been roaming around to the ends of the earth,
Still my heart is at home in a land far away,
That lovely dark island where memories stray.
With a sorrowful heart I look back through the years,
When I think of that island my eyes fill with tears;
Once again then I long for the land I adore,
That lovely dark island I yearn for once more.
Though I've.....(chorus)
One day I'll return to that far distant shore,
And from that Dark Island I'll wander no more,
Till the day that I die I shall no longer roam,
For that lovely dark island will be my last home
Though I've wandered away from the land of my birth,
And been roaming around to the ends of the earth,
Still my heart is at home in a land far away,
That lovely dark island where memories stray.
