Pregnant Marine missing from North Carolina base. Was supposed to testify about a incident at the base
Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach was eight months pregnant when she went missing on December 14, 2007 Investigators are learning more about why Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach may be missing. Sheriff Ed Brown says Lauterbach was a victim of crime and was set to testify about an incident that happened on base.
On Tuesday, it was discovered that there were persons of interest in the area and outside Onslow County, one of those persons is the 20-year-old's roommate who is currently deployed.
The Sheriff believes there could be other people involved in the pregnant Marine's disappearance who are military, and these people may have tampered with her car and cell phone.
A search is on for a 20-year-old U.S. Marine who is eight months pregnant and could give birth at any time. Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach, who was expected to testify about something she witnessed on base, has been missing since mid-December. "There are several findings and pieces of evidence that have been discovered that cause law enforcement to be concerned with the circumstances surrounding Maria's disappearance," the sheriff's department said in a statement.
The mother "was very suspicious that something bad may have happened to her daughter," the statement said.
Lauterbach, of Dayton, Ohio, was reported missing Dec. 19 by her mother, who last spoke with her daughter on Dec. 13. Her cell phone was found Dec. 20 near the main gate at Camp Lejeune and her car was found Monday at Jacksonville's bus station.
Investigators told the Marine Corps Times that a withdrawal from Lauterbach's bank account was made on Dec. 14, the last time she used her cell phone, and said there was "suspicious activity" on the account 10 days later. Click here for more info

Eyes: Blue Bowman was reportedly last seen at home on January 7, 2003, but his mother did not report him missing until January 23, over two weeks after his disappearance. She could not explain the reasons for the delay. He is missing under suspicious circumstances.
A month after Bowman's disappearance, his mother, Cynthia Lee Davis, was charged with child endangerment. Bowman was scalded on his legs, feet, groin, and buttocks before his disappearance and Davis apparently never took him to a doctor. Davis's boyfriend, Dennis Schermerhorn, was also charged in connection with the incident Authorities stated Schermerhorn gave conflicting statements about Bowman's case.
Teachers at Bowman's school say they noticed bruises on his body in December. They did not report this until after he disappeared. It is unknown whether his alleged injuries had anything to do with his disappearance. His father last saw his son at Christmas 2002. He had weekend visitation but Davis and Schermerhorn would not permit him to see Bowman after Christmas, saying he was ill. Bowman's father is not considered a suspect in his son's disappearance. Davis and Schmermerhorn only reported Bowman missing after his father threatened to call the police himself.
In April 2003, Davis and Schmermerhorn were indicted on two counts each of child neglect. The first count relates to their failure to seek medical attention for Bowman's burns; the second, for failure to report him missing for two weeks. In July of that year, they were charged additionally with felony murder.
Davis pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to fifteen years in prison and twenty years on probation. She testified against Schmermerhorn. She claimed that Logan burned himself in the bathtub on or about January 7, and and she wanted to take him to a hospital, but Schmermerhorn told her to calm herself first. Davis fell asleep and when she woke up, Bowman was gone. Schmermerhorn told her he had taken the child to his mother, a nurse. Davis says she never saw her son again. Schmermerhorn says it was Davis who left with Bowman and later returned without him. He stated he believed Davis had sold the child.
In May 2004, a judge dismissed the murder charge and one of the child neglect charges against Schmermerhorn for lack of evidence. Prosecutors were counting on Davis's testimony to convict him, but her evidence was self-serving and inconsistent. She has told five different stories about the events of January 7. Schmermerhorn was convicted of one count of child neglect and sentenced to a year in jail.
Bowman has not been found. Foul play is suspected in his disappearance due to the circumstances involved. Click here for more info

IOWA: Council Bluffs man missing since New Year's

Missing: James E. Stoutzenberger Council Bluffs police are trying to locate a missing man. James E. Stoutzenberger, 21, was last seen on New Year's Eve. The Council Bluffs man was visiting a friend right before he disappeared, said Police Sgt. Jerry Mann.
As the two friends were preparing to leave to go to a party, Stoutzenberger went outside, started his truck and drove off without his friend. He has been missing since then.
"He hasn't been back to work," Mann said. "He hasn't made any bank transactions. His family and friends haven't heard from him, and we haven't been able to locate his pickup truck."
Stoutzenberger's truck is a tan 1986 Chevrolet with an Iowa license plate of 895RPB. Click here for more info

Wanted: Robert Barkley Officers want to find 49-year-old Robert Barkley, who could be staying in Riverside. He's wanted for parole violation and failure to register as a sex offender. Barkley spent 10-years in prison for several charges including rape, aggravated assault, and breaking and entering.
Wanted: Gary Johnson Police are also looking for 50-year-old Gary Johnson. He's a suspected sex offender who last lived on Hudson Avenue in Evanston. Johnson was convicted of 3-counts of gross sexual imposition in 1997. His victim was under the age of 13. A warrant was issued in 2004 for failure to register. He's also wanted for contempt of court.
Wanted: Burton Barber The final suspect could be hiding out on Parkcrest Avenue in Westwood. 51-year-old Burton Barber served 18-years in prison for rape and aggravated arson. He's wanted for failing to register and violating the terms of his parole. Barber was originally sentenced to more than 20 years in prison. Click here for more info
