About Me

ABOUT US
The mission of the CAP Center is to break the generational cycle of child abuse by equipping parents and caregivers for success.
CAP carries out its mission by providing educational and counseling programs for families at-risk for abuse. CAP works to empower clients by teaching positive parenting methods and supporting parents by strengthening their families, emotionally, economically, physically, and socially., The CAP Center is a key provider of prevention services for at-risk children and families in Dallas County.
PROGRAMS
Parent Aide - This program works with families who have been reffered to the CAP Center by CPS as potential abuse cases. Each family is assigned a case worker that meets with them on a weekly basis to learn how to deal with the stress of being a parent. This program also connects it's participants with other agencies in the community that can help with food, housing, education, medical care and so much more!
Families First - A nationally recognized program for divorcing parents, which provides in-depth, innovative techniques for successfully moving through the transition of separation and divorce.
Healthy Families - Works with at-risk pregnant teens in high poverty neighborhoods from the onset of pregnancy to the baby’s fifth birthday. CAP served 73 teens and their 66 babies in 2005.
Shaken Baby Syndrome Education - Teaches students and citizens strategies for dealing with crying babies and preventing this insidious form of child abuse. CAP educated over 1,300 teens, 59 child-care providers and 31 citizens in 2005.The Exchange Club support has leveraged and catalyzed the CAP Center into a critical provider of prevention services in Dallas County. We are proud to be one of the 70 Exchange Club Centers nationwide.
