About Me

It takes talent and individuality to stand out in a sea of mediocrity. Metal fans attending shows in southwest Michigan over the past several years are aware that few local bands are capable of a truly impressive performance. Dirtknap are the exception to the rule. Combining an inspiring live show with an original sound and relentless work ethic, Dirtknap have made a lasting mark on the West Michigan music scene.
The band has evolved since first forming in 2000. The years have seen members come and go, but the band has been working hard with its current lineup. Dirtknap has written new material and played countless shows and festivals including Summer of Mayhem, the area’s biggest annual live music event. The band has also proven to be a strong performer in more than one KLQ Heavyweight Championship.
Live performance remains the true barometer by which to gauge the group’s impact. This band has earned its reputation by placing great emphasis on a driving and unrelenting rhythm section. Drums and bass pound furiously, guitars crush, and vocals devastate as a wall of sound rivaled by few local bands consumes the listener. Known for big crowds and high energy, when Dirtknap plays a venue expect nothing less than full-on chaos from beginning to end.

Influences: Where do we begin? It varies between old and new school metal, with heavy head bobbing breakdowns and melodic riffs. We don't settle on one particular style, but try to come up with something that is a good blend. Where some bands are content with staying "between the lines" of a certain genre, we try to draw our own line.
