“Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you will land among the stars.â€
- Les Brown
...this is what I aspire to do. My name is Sarah Alvarez, I was born August 15, 1988 and raised in Las Cruces, NM by two wonderful parents and one older sister.
I began singing and writing music around the age of seven years when my Grandma first taught me how to play the piano. A year later, she passed away and left me with inspiration to become my dream. Since then, I have been studying music and it’s many genres, mainly Rhythm and Blues, have taken many vocal, piano, and dance lessons and have, and continue to, expand my knowledge every day from it.
Singing and dancing all day and all night drove my family nuts, but they didn’t seem to mind it when they were bragging about me. My parents, both nurses, are very supportive of my dream. They used to say that it wasn’t fair to the other kids because I would steal the show in every production I was in.
I began singing with a choir in junior high when a few friends introduced me to a music and recording group, formerly, Track Team Productions. I had a small audition with the producer then sang and performed with them for nearly six years. From radio play, doing small shows, being an opening act for bigger artists (i.e. Bone Thugs N’ Harmony, Frankie J, Smiles and South Star and Lil’ Rob) working with other very talented people (Fingazz) and traveling to better myself performance wise, with this group, I have made a name for myself in parts of New Mexico and Texas.
In high school, I had auditioned and was selected for the top choir and the advanced dance group. Through both, I have sang at many amazing and odd places (All-State, Carnegie Hall and in the middle of small restaurants) and danced my way to meet new faces (well-known choreographers). By being so involved and putting my all into my talents I found myself a section leader, student choreographer and dance captain for over 150 students through school and a better performer and songwriter in my passion. It was an amazing time for me. Singing, acting and dancing was all that mattered to me, therefore, other teachers would usually “chew me out†for being so involved with my talent. Luckily, I made time for my education and my passion and had graduated with flying colors.
Now that I am out of high school, I dedicate my time, money and energy to my music. I basically eat, sleep and drink it in every day. Music is my life and passion, it makes me feel like I can achieve anything that I set my mind to. Its been with me through ups and downs, good times and bad and has brought me to where I am today.
So, every day I take in my daily dose of music, if not more, and I shoot for that moon, because even if I do miss, I know that I will land amongst the stars. After Hours Of Clowning Around We Actually Got To Record a Few Takes!
