STABBED BY WORDS Biography/Press Release (by Jacob Bannon)
The bleeding history:
In the mid 90's, San Diego's UNBROKEN singlehandedly influenced a generation of hardcore/punk with their musical and emotional intensity. An influence that can still be heard in countless hardcore/punk bands today.
When UNBROKEN played their now legendary final shows, vocalist Dave Claibourn had already moved back home to the St. Louis area and was playing guitar for the short lived band, JOHNNY ANGEL. One night after a JOHNNY ANGEL / SUICIDE NOTE (Ferret Recordings) show, Dave and SUICIDE NOTE drummer Jason Gagovski began talking about forming a band together. With that casual conversation nearly half a decade ago, STABBED BY WORDS was born...
The two began writing and practicing in 2000 thru 2004, assembling songs and refining material for STABBED BY WORDS. Soon after Neeraj Kane (HOPE CON, THE SUICIDE FILE, SWEET COBRA, HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE), Jay Jancetic (ARMA ANGELUS, HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE), and Matt Arluck (SWEET COBRA, DEMINER) joined the fold and the band played some select shows in the Chicago area, as well as Hellfest and New Years Fest.
The healing future:
In 2004, STABBED BY WORDS entered Semaphore Recording in Chicago with Scott Adamson (June of 44, Abeline) to record their 11 song debut full length album.
STABBED BY WORDS debut album is both an artistic and emotional achievement, serving as the antithesis to the carbon copy "hardcore" that saturates the ears of the present day music community. From start to finish the album races forth with an infectious energy, on the verge losing control and unravelling at it's expressive seams. Encapsulating the power of the members previous efforts in UNBROKEN, SUICIDE NOTE, and HOPE CON, yet leaving it's own unforgettable scar.
The CD also features jaw dropping artwork and design by Aaron Turner (ISIS/Hydrahead) that you have to see to believe.
STABBED BY WORDS is planning on doing select touring throughout 2006.
