Master Of Metal

About Me

Hi and welcome to my profile, which should be - in some way - be an extension of my website Thoughts Of Metal @ www.thoughtsofmetal.be.tt
The goal of the website should be pretty obvious and this registration @ MySpace is also a tool to help promote more bands.
Of course, all this is done in my spare time, since I have a daytime job. But everyday gets brightened up with a touch of Metal, although one should be aware of the consequences and welcome the silence from time to time to reflect upon one's actions that day, life and whatever else that has importance.
The connection with Fantasy and Sci-Fi is easily made and occasionally I read books from authors in those genres. Besides that, ancient civilizations are also among my interests, particularly Egypt and the Mayas.
The automobile industry is another interest I have, but due to a limited amount of time, it's sometimes hard to devote yourself to the other stuff besides the music.
Anyhow, if you like the reviews and want your band to have more exposure by review or interview, don't hesitate to contact me.
Next to that, I try to contribute to the environment through WWF Passport. Yes, I'm not perfect, but since nature is a great source of inspiration and life, it's not something to consider trivial, whether it's forests, animals, oceans, ...

My Interests

- Archaeology
- Astronomy (to a certain extent)
- Books (see lower)
- Cars
- Music (see lower)

I'd like to meet:

ht Jon Oliva, Gus Chambers, James Hetfield, Luca Turilli, Alex Staropoli, Rhapsody Of Fire, Edguy, Saxon, Ahab (the band ;-)), Swallow The Sun, Solitude Aeturnus, Obscene Gesture, Manticora, Manigance, and many others

Music:

What I like and support (one more than the other) - also because of T.O.M.:
- Hard Rock
- Gothic Rock
- Heavy Metal
- Power Metal
- Progressive Metal
- Thrash Metal
- Death Metal
- Black Metal
- Folk Metal
- Viking Metal
- Doom Metal
- Gothic Metal
- Industrial Metal
- Hardcore (some)
- etc...

Other music that I like:
- Classical (incl. filmscores)
- Jazz (to a certain extent, but anything à la Medeski, Martin & Wood)

Music I'm NOT (!) fond of or don't really care about: artists in these genres do NOT need to ask to be added!
- Hiphop (except some (!) stuff from 't Hof van Commerce, a West-Flemish band)
- Dance
- Electro
- House
- Nu-Metal
- Pop (at least, not today's crap)
- *-core (Mallcore, Metalcore, Emocore, Screamo, ...)
- Rap
- R&b
- Techno
- etc... anything like mentioned above

Movies:

- Outbreak
- The Constant Gardener
- Ice Age (both)
- LOTR
and more, which I can't remember now

Television:

- Documentaries (ancient civilizations, wildlife, ...)
- Police series (A Touch Of Frost, Cavanagh, Inspector Morse, ...)
- The Simpsons
- Cabaret/Comedy: Youp van 't Hek, Alex Agnew, Wouter Deprez, Nigel Williams, Hans Liberg, ...

Other than that, the hours I watch TV have decreased enormously because most times there's not really something worth seeing.

Books:

Fantasy: some examples
- Dragonlance (lots ;-))
- Death Gate
- Sovereign Stone
- The Rose Of The Prophet
- etc...

Other: Ancient civilizations (Egypt, Mayas, Incas, Atlantis, Lemuria, ...)

Authors:
- Robert Bauval
- Graham Hancock
- Tracy Hickman
- Dan Simmons
- Margaret Weis
