Punk's NOT Dead

About Me

Morphine FX is a punk band from Laval/Montreal (Quebec, Canada) influenced by The Ramones, NOFX, Rancid, The Casualties, MxPx and many other punk bands. The band has been started in 2004, but since that day things have changed a lot.
We recorded our first demo in july 2007 and you can listen to it in our profile.
Now, with over 40+ songs (Mostly fast punk songs), we will keep practicing to record during the summer (if possible) our first EP with 8 PUNK songs called ''Dummies Invasion''.
We are punk-rockers and only have one goal: To help keeping punk alive. Punk's not fucking dead and we're gonna help to prove it.
If you want to know what happened since 2004, you can read the whole story below.

See ya in the pit!

Everything started in december 2004, when Dave Gaunz and Crazy Gabi, his friend, decided to start a band together. Dave would play the bass and Gabi the drums but they needed someone to play the guitar. So in January 2005, after looking for one, they found Pancho and he became the guitarist of Morphine FX.
But then, they started to have problems because before Gabi even buy a drum or touches one for the first time, he moved to Terrebonne and had to leave them only 1 week after Pancho joined, so the band did not have a drummer anymore.
Dave Gaunz and Pancho talked for a few days and finally descided not to give up and continue without a drummer till they would find another one.
In these days, starting a brand new highschool year in 2005, Dave Gaunz and Pancho were only playing covers of other bands with a bass and an acoustic guitar, and you guys have to know that the sound wasn't really punk-rock (haha)... Anyway, after 2 months practicing, Pancho finally bought his first electric guitar and then Dave started to work to make their own songs.
With 10 songs finished and ready to be played, they took their time to practice while they were looking at the same time for a new drummer.
December 2005, Max got invited to be a new member of Morphine FX as a second guitarist, but they had the same problem than with Pancho because Max didn’t have a guitar.
Dave and Pancho decided then to show Max all the songs they had already finished so he could learn and when he would buy his electric guitar they could make new songs and continue with their way in the music.
After 2 months, in february 2006, Max talked to Dave and Pancho about his good friend, Phil A.K.A Yuri, and asked them to invite him to the band so he could be the new drummer. And they accepted !
But then, once again, the problem wasn’t only that Yuri didn’t have a drum, it was that he had never played before.
In May 2006, Phil .A.K.A Yuri got his first drum. But that month, Max had to leave the band. Dave and Pancho realized that they didn't need a 2nd guitarist and told Max that he had to leave and Morphine FX would have only 3 members. Now Max is a good friend of the band and our number 1 fan !
In the summer of 2006, They had more than 20 songs, a guitar, mics, a bass, a drum and the only thing they needed to do for the moment was to wait for Phil to bring his drum so they could start practicing.
In October 2006, Morphine FX had their first practice with Yuri, they thought it was time to bring the drum to Dave's house and try to help Yuri to learn how to play drums. Pancho knew a little bit about drumming (by ear) so he helped Yuri a lot. They started with a cover from MxPx (Self serving with a purpose) and after a long practice, they finished it. They played the same song all the week so Yuri could learn it perfectly and the next week they started to work and show him their own songs.
In July 2007, MFX went to Rimouski (7 hours away from Laval) to record their very first demo and play their first show with Keepin'6, Live Ground & Sally+Every1. An amazing experience for the band that they will never forget.
Morphine FX came back to Rimouski in october of 2007 to play in the PunkFest on the opening day (Friday the 5th) and in the next day with more than 20 bands.
The band has been practicing and looking for shows till December, when Yuri was kicked out of the band for a lot of reasons that the band prefer not to talk about.
MFX was facing a hard situation but once again decided to keep the band going and not give up.March 20, 2008: After looking for a drummer for a few months, Dave & Pancho realized that they needed to do something and stop wasting time. So Pancho finally decided to be the drummer of the band and thought it was a good idea to invite their good friend and old 2nd guitarist in Morphine FX (2006), Max, to play the guitar and replace him.
Now the band has over 40+ songs and will keep practicing to record an EP with 8 PUNK songs and continue with their road.
