About Me

Images of March on GreatBasinLife.comMy "official' bio:Photographer, writer, and artist, Arla was born and raised in rural White Pine County, Nevada, the youngest child of a hard-working traditional family. Like both of her grandfathers, Arla's father worked in the mining industry. Her mother had grown up among of sheep and mustangs, before she met and married Arla's father in 1950. After many years of traveling extensively throughout North America,Arla returned to her mountain roots permanently, following the death of her mother in 2004. Her mission since then, has been to preserve through photography, what she perceives as the vanishing American west.
"Nevada's gold," she says, "is not just precious metal; but our heritage and our history; as well as the majestic beauty of this rugged land, and the creatures that inhabit it."
Everything I do, I do with complete abandon, and when I am finished with something, I abandon it completely.
