About Me

His Majesty's Southern Indian Department is an historical re-enactment organization dedicated to the portrayal of the active period of the British Southern Indian Department in the Colonies - roughly from the middle of the 18th century through the Revolutionary War (American War for Independence). Members of this group portray Southeastern Native people, His Majesty's Indian Department Officers and Employees, Loyalist Rangers and Crown Troops with duties in direct support of the Indian Department. Our portrayal of the Southern Indian Department brings together individuals with a number of different historically accurate portrayals to allow us to more fully represent the time period at living history demonstrations, military and civilian historical reenactments, and through public and private exhibitions, lectures, demonstrations, and roundtable discussions. To accomplish this, we help our members grow through sharing research, group events and the mentoring of new members. We participate in education-focused events in VA, NC, SC, GA, and East TN.Our schedule for 2007 is as follows: April 21-22, 2007 “War for Empire 1756” – Fort Dobbs State Historic Site, Statesville, NC. May 11-13. 2007 “Raid on Martin’s Station”, Wilderness Road State Park, Ewing, VA June 1-3, 2007 “Under the Crown”, The Living History Park, North Augusta, SC. July 13-14, 2007 “Raid on the Watauga”, Rocky Mount State Historic Site, Piney Flats, TN October 20-21, 2007 “Colonial Times”, The Living History Park, North Augusta, SC. October 26-28, 2007 “Fort Dobbs Trade Fair”, Fort Dobbs State Historic Site, Statesville, NC.
