Where the Locals Eat is a restaurant guide published by Magellan Press – an independent publisher of travel and special interest books since 1991. In 2005, Magellan set out to sail the world (or maybe just Nashville) to find the best restaurants on the map.
Pat Embry, editor, spent eight months sifting through and dining at multiple restaurants per day to find the best eats for you. Also compiled by other researchers and writers emphasizing journalistic integrity, the Nashville edition of our book was released in May, 2006. A national version, along with a hefty national Web site featuring over 15,000 restaurants in America, will be published Spring 2007. The entire staff has been working hard to forge relationships with foodies around the country as well as independent chefs and restaurant owners. We’re all motivated by a passion for food, and we love to spread the word about the little mom-and-pop gem around the corner or the comforting meat-and-three most restaurant critics overlook. We can give you the run down on the best chic American Contemporary, Thai, pizza or coffeehouse options too. Is a restaurant vegetarian friendly? Open late? Kid friendly? We condense it all down in one spot and let you know.
