About Me

~~~ The name "Wanderer" is taken from a chracter in Stephanie Meyer's book "The Host". Wander is an alien from a parasitic race that takes over the bodies of other sentient beings. The mind of her human "host" is exceptionally strong tho (in my case Stellaluna) and refuses to fade into nonexistence like normal. Thus, tho Wanderer has physical control, she & her host coexist inside her head. As despicable as a parasite is by nature, Wanderer turns out to be an exceptionally kind & loving soul, who then realizes the evil in how they survive. She is unconditionally loving, & adored by a few, but mostly hated for what she is. She & her host make peace and find a solution that allows everyone the choice to live fully. I'm hoping for that same happy ending. BTW, she is named "Wanderer" because she cannot settle on a home world like most of her kind do, but moves from one to the other, life after life. Is that me or what??~~~
Stellaluna is a story about a baby bat who was raised in a nest with birds (magpies, collectors of shiny things!). Though instinct told her to behave otherwise, she tried hard to behave as a good bird should. She was very sad & discouraged until one night she encountered some bats & discovered she wasn't a bird at all! She was an awesome bat!
~~~ Me: Brainy & beautiful. Eastside Indy, Mom to 3 prodigious progeny (see pic of fab four). Single (it's hard to find a match for something rare). One of the funniest people I know (I crack me up). Just a brilliant, arty, indie, curvy, lean, sweet, humble, perpetual kid still looking for her place in the world.

A bunch of incredible quotes:
~~~
Anyone who knows me or reads my blogs knows I am NOT an athiest. I believe there is a lot more to us than we comprehend. But this video showcases people who are/were non-believers- many of whom are my personal heroes! The idea that divinity & science are at odds is an illusion. Divinity provides the mysteries of the universe, science explains them. Miracles are possible events we don't yet understand. ~ ~~~
"Live by the harmless untruths that make you brave and kind and healthy and happy." - Kurt Vonnegut
~~~~ Have no shame in being kindly and gentle, but if the time comes in the time of your life to kill, kill and have no regret. In the time of your life, live — so that in that wondrous time you shall not add to the misery and sorrow of the world, but shall smile to the infinite delight and mystery of it. -- William Saroyan
~~~ "There is more to life than simply increasing its speed." ..-Political leader & icon of civil disobedience, Mahatma Gandhi
How far that little candle throws his beams! So shines a good deed in a weary world - William Shakespeare
Whatever you are, be a good one.
"Always remember- you are Unique! Just like everybody else." - I don't know who said that.
"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not one bit simpler." - Albert Einstein
"Life is truly a ride. We're all strapped in and no one can stop it. When the doctor slaps your behind, he's ripping your ticket and away you go. As you make each passage from youth to adulthood to maturity, sometimes you put your arms up and scream, sometimes you just hang on to that bar in front of you. But the ride is the thing. I think the most you can hope for at the end of life is that your hair's messed, you're out of breath, and you didn't throw up." -Jerry Seinfeld
"Naturally the common people don't want war, but after all it is the leaders of a country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag people along whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country." - Herman Goering, Hitler's Reich-Marshall at the Nuremberg Trials after WWII
Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent. - Calvin Coolidge (keep this one in mind, gentlemen)
On Fortitude:.. "It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentance, to be ever in view, and which should be appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words, 'And this, too, shall pass away.' How much it expresses! How chastening in the hour of pride! How consoling in the depths of affliction!" -16th US President Abraham Lincoln
---------- "The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact, non-Westerners never do." ---------- Samuel P. Huntington
I have learnt silence from the talkative, tolerance from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind. - Lebanese-born writer Kahlil Gibran
"Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality the cost becomes prohibitive." -William F Buckley Jr.
"We cannot ignore information that is available to us, no matter how strong our wills. The key to deliberate disbelieving is having something to believe. If we wish to deny one idea, we must have another to put in its place." - Daniel M. Wegner, speaking on psychological control & prejudice
"Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to a better understanding of ourselves." -Carl Jung
"Whatever happens, hold on to His feet without loosening the grip even slightly." —Ammachi ~~~~~~ .. Read my VisualDNA ™ Get your own VisualDNA™ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
