First Review is in!
"We have received your CD. Without reservation, it was one of the tastiest musical treats we have enjoyed this year. We particularly liked the layering and texturing of each track. We were also taken with your use of musical instruments too infrequently used in the Blues, i.e. the flute and the organ in the same track... So unaccustomed to hearing the Blues so arranged, we listened to your CD several times and each time got something new from listening... The only fault we found with this effort was the length of the CD. At just a little over 35 minutes, it left us wanting more. This for us, is the true mark of good music. Well done."

-- Dave King - Cross Harp Chronicles

Michael has developed a style all his own... He has many talented guitar players to thank for helping with that: BB King, Jimi Hendrix, Tommy Bolin, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray, Muddy Waters, Johnny Lee, Clapton, Johnny Winters and many other great players... Bob Marley's influence helped Michael learn to put his feelings into his vocals.

He met the great Jimi Hendrix in 1968, when he was about 14 years old. Hendrix showed him some licks, and as Michael puts it, "I didn't get it for about ten years."

Michael recorded his first album, Easy Money , in 1979, and tried very hard to get it out there - almost impossible as an independent artist back in the day! There are some great musicians on the album, along with unique tunes and arrangements, great sax, keyboards and guitar work. Consequently, Easy Money has been remastered and released again this year, in limited edition.

Michael has traveled the U.S., playing with some great people along the way... Ron Bland, Toy Caldwell (Marshall Tucker Band), Tommy Bolin, John Lee Hooker, Mark Naffler (Butterfield Blues Band), Charlie Musslewhite, Katie Moffat, Jim Ridl, Steve Watts, and many great Blues players during his time in California.

Fans are excited about the release of his new album, Lost in the Blues , a wonderful mix of some favorite blues songs and original songs with a variety of styles and tempo that will have you rockin'!

Influences: Does that mean good influences or bad influences? I'd have to say alcohol, women, and my guitar... in that order...
Sounds Like: Michael Harrison... but I would say a wonderful mix of influence from BB King, Jimi Hendrix, Tommy Bolin, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray, Muddy Waters, Johnny Lee, Mose Allison, Clapton, Johnny Winters and many other bad ass guitar players... I have Bob Marley to thank for helping me learn to try and put my feelings into my vocals.

I really love this collection of blues pieces. This is a wonderful CD to have when one is in the mood for blues. I use it as a background when I am driving and also doing computer tasks. It is also a great collection to listen to just for the sake of listening. Five stars!!!
