About Me


The sound of the Barra Pesada's band is not easily described by a single genre. It sounds like rock, stoner metal, punk, trash and jazz influences. It’s a sound that provides the sensation of liberty, like the wind blowing in the face. Another strong characteristic of the band is the mixing of sports with rock and roll. The members of the band are, beside musicians, also sportists from snowboard, bike downhill, soccer and basketball.
The band was created in 2003 with BB from Bronx and Negran O'Neil. So far BB from Bronx was a drummer musician, but when he decided to create the Barra Pesada’s band, he did change to guitar and vocals, so he was able to exercise and increase his own riffs. BB from Bronx and Negran O'Neil did play together in garages and home studios for a while, so they decided to start looking for a bass player for completing the band. During this search they have played with several musicians, including Rod du Point and Digão from Underdog Foundation. It was only with the arrival of the bass player Subasoccer, BB from Bronx brother's, that the Barra Pesada was finally complete. At this moment the band reached the sound that they were looking for, heavy guitars and strong riffs with few solos, groovy drums with furious touch and dense loud bass. So it was born the Barra Pesasa, part metal, part thrash and part stoner. It is serious rock without bullshit.
So far the band has been playing all over the south of Brazil. There was a time when BB from Bronx was living in Canada. At this time the Barra Pesada has presented featuring Joshua Case (ex-Big Boss) at the bass and Dieter (ex-Huskvarna) at the drums.
Now Barra Pesada has its first registry, it is the first recorded CD of the band, called "Chumbo Grosso". It is a heavy disc, full of touch. The band follows the traditional music influence from 70, 80 and 90’s rock and roll. BB from Bronx shows serious and strong guitars with few solos and good vocals. Subasoccer comes with heavy bass doing the riffs lines and soling sometimes, without forgetting to complete the kitchen with the drums. Finally the groovy touch of Negran O’Neil’s drums complete the sound of the band. The disc has been produced with the effort and dedication of the band members without any financial support. It was released in 2007 presenting 8 songs. The songs are pretty autobiographic and refer to sports and rock'n roll, which are the main influences of the band. The lyrics appear in English and Portuguese and sometimes in both languages.
