Ginger's Lad

Sedintery life...... of sorts

About Me

My profile currently states Female as a result of too many hookers requesting my friendship through automated software.
For the last 15 years I have lived in Las Vegas. My fiancee and myself just returned from 5 months of travel throughout Europe and Northern Africa. This has helped to brighten my views of my hometown. Still I long for the day when we can move somewhere. Not sure where somewhere is yet. I'm getting married sometime in October and then after that we're moving. Ginger plays accordion, piano, and guitar..... I play guitar, piano, and violin. We're writing music and are making it our career. From this you can easily tell I have a degree in film.;) I'm a fairly outgoing person. I used to be painstakingly shy... in the last few years this has begun to fade. I lost my father and both grandmothers in the last year and a half, which I think has altered me somewhat. Personally I believe my lovely lady Ginger is the actual cause..... of my outgoingness... not their deaths! Also I'm a huge NERD! Please remind me of this as much as possible. Especially when we have our record deal and are playing the Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh.

My Interests

My Fiancee:

School is now gone from my life so I'm enveloped in my independent music studies. My fiancee and myself both play accordion and guitar. She's endeavoring to become an accordion Goddess. My flirtation with the piano has come and gone recently..... and will be back when we return home to record music. Hard to keep up when you're traveling. Outisde music I work on short films as a DP/ Sound Mixer/ AD/ PA. Basically I'm interested in anything that puts me around other artistic types.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who is passionate about what they do and appreciates the passion that others have. You know what you want, security isn't a necessity when love is in play, the world is too great to remain angry, and...I guess if your just as sappy and melodramatic as I'm surely coming off right now... Movies:

My long running favourite has been Midnight Run with Robert Deniro and Charles Grodin. Recently, however, it has been nudged aside by the movie Amelia. I adore the beautiful cinematography and the wonderful acting. I've tried to work up the nerve to listen to the commentary, but I'm afraid it would ruin by many future viewings. As far as ones that are not quite at the top of the list there is: My Blue Heaven, The Motorcycle Diarys Duck Soup (Marx Bros.) Mallrats ( Because it requires no thought when watching) L.A. Story, Monty Python and the Holy Grail ( For some reason I write better if its playing in the background) Lilo and Stitch, Squid and the Whale, Me, You, and Everyone We Know, High Fidelity, Eternal Sunshine, Royal Tenenbaums, Lost in Translation, About a Boy, Love Actually, Adam's Apples, Wristcutters (A Love Story), Marx Bros.

Movies, White Stripes: Under Blackpool Lights Current favourite actor: Colin Firth, Actress: trying to think of a new one presently My IMDB Page!!!

Television:

Stopped watching TV a few months ago. The news is always biased (ummm Fox News) and TV has not produced anything other than reality shows as of late. I have always been a big fan of the writer Joss Whedon. I was one of the many teenage boys totally devoted to his Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. Admittedly it was Dawson's Creek with more blood. His best show, Firefly, was cancelled too soon. Fortunately it's been made into a feature film Serenity. Right now I stick with reading and music

Books:

The works of Nikolai Gogol in general, Diary of a Madman, The Nose, The Overcoat, Dead Souls, and especially How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich. I just wish I was able to read the original Russian text. Currently learning Russian at an extremely slow pace.

The poems of Ezra Pound. :)

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery (we have the same birthday)

Envy by Yuri Olesha

About a Boy by Nick Hornsby

What is a Jew?

The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

The Collected Works of Isaac Babel

Beautiful Losers by Leonard Cohen

How To Be Good by Nick Hornby

The Hitchhikers Series

Heroes:

Film school has been the focus of my life for the past 5 years. As a result my central hero has been the assistant director Jerry Zeismer. He worked on Apocalypse Now, Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous, The Way We Were, along with many others. Even if I don't end up in film I will always look up to Jerry Zeismer. He demanded nothing but quality work at a time when work in the film industry was scarce. Basically my hero is anyone who is willing to risk what they have in the most unlikely of situations. As far as musicians go.....just about all of them. If you've got the guts to go before a group of people no matter how big or small you've got a fan here.
