Raíces De Mi Tierra Grupo folklórico de UCSB

About Me

Since our first show in 1990, el grupo folklórico Raíces de mi Tierra de UC Santa Barbara has made a unique contribution to the cultural diversity that can be found in the Santa Barbara County. Our main purpose as a student-run non-profit organization is to promote and cultivate the study and performance of native Mexican and Chicano dance forms from various regions of Mexico such as Nuevo Leon, Jalisco, Guerrero, etc. In concordance with this objective, Raíces de Mi Tierra annually produces a professional quality performance in the month of May at Campbell Hall, the main performance hall at the UC Santa Barbara campus, with a dedicated contribution of each of our 40 dancers. We practice Friday evenings from six to eight and weekend mornings from nine to twelve. In order to make the annual show possible, which includes the rental price for Campbell Hall, costumes, and musical entertainment, we have fundraisers throughout the year, as well as sponsors from the community. If you have any further questions or comments, feel free to message us through myspace or e-mail us at: [email protected]
