Hello! I was born near Detroit, Michigan, grew up all over the U.S., and have been living in Europe for almost 20 years now - 5 years in Germany and 14 in France. I ran the gamut of lessons and activities as a kid: piano, clarinet, children’s choirs, dance, acting, tennis, horseback riding, and attempting to fly… After various performing adventures, I earned a BA in Music from Williams College in 1988 and moved to Europe right after graduation. I sang and played piano with a cabaret/performance art group in Munich, then really got hooked on jazz in Paris. I worked on my solo style with Laurence Saltiel, Michele Hendricks and Roger Letson, and formed a vocal jazz quartet called Rue Blanche in 1995. Since then I've been invited to sing with a multi-national a cappella group called Eurovocal and the cutting-edge electro a cappella group “les Grandes Gueules†(the Big Mouths), who released an album on SONY-BMG in 2006 (“Vocal Extreme†– it is really amazing stuff).
My solo act is a vocal exploration of standards and compositions using unusual instrumentation such as steel drum and percussion. I put a personal spin on it through improvisation, humor, or surprising arrangements that keep listeners on their toes. It’s fun, emotional, creative and full of the joy of communication through art. Hope you enjoy it - thank you for stopping by!
