Started by singer/songwriter/guitarist Nate Castle and trumpet player Tom Torrento, PBM began its journey inside the halls of Cousino High School in Warren, MI. With each and every show, the band started to gain local recognition with their quirky, horn-infused rock and unmistakable vocal harmonies—not to mention their hard work ethic. Over the years, PBM has gained worldwide acclaim (RawFish Records, LittleGiants Records, Honey Records, etc.) and has had their music distributed in Germany, England, and France.
Nate prides himself on writing songs in a way, lyrically and stylistically, that is different than the norm. “We could turn out generic pop songs with the same old lyrics,†Nate says, “or I can sit down and write about something everyone can relate to, but do it with some creativity and uniqueness.†The one commonality in PBM songs is that they are, in the simplest terms—fun.
One will certainly smile if they pop in the bands latest album, One Sip At A Time. Their misadventures with love and life, breakups and hang-ups, politics, daydreams and days and nights hanging out at the local Coffee Beanery inspired PBM to take a break from touring and record their latest album, and their most anticipated album to date. “This collection of songs…they all reflect pop culture as we see it,†says Castle. “And the songs are just fun, melodic songs.†OSAT was released in January at the Royal Oak Music Theatre to over 700 people! In 2006, PBM signed a national distribution deal (Red Eye) putting OSAT in stores across the country.
In April 2006, the guys auditioned for NBC's new hit reality show America's Got Talent in New York City and received a call back to audition for the 3 celebrity judges for their second episode, this time filmed in Los Angeles. Receiving 2 out of the 3 votes required to move on, the guys advanced to the semifinals. PBM was one of only 10 bands chosen from across the US to audition in LA and one of the 60 acts selected to advance to the semi-finals. Over 20 million people saw them perform their catchy single Password on national TV. More than 5,000 acts auditioned for Season 1. “This experience made the three of us a lot stronger, a lot closer,†said Torrento. “We learned a lot about the nature of the business and we learned a lot about each other.â€
From the stages of the Vans Warped Tour to the smoky pubs in England to the soundstages of Paramount Studios, PBM has rocked audiences all over the world and continues to tour nationally, month in and month out. Their shows are intense, fun, sweaty and guaranteed to get you up and moving. “This has been an incredible ride, with plenty of ups and downs, but we’re not done yet…we’re not satisfied,†says Castle. “We’re going to continue to work hard, to hit the road, to connect with fans in every town and to spread our kind of music to as many people who are willing to listen.†Trying to maintain a close relationship with their fans is extremely important for Nate, Tom and Miah. They all agree: “Without the support of our family, friends and fans, we’d be nothing.â€

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT US...
"PBM are amazing live! Go and see them, but prepare to be INFECTED!" --Raw Fish Records, UK"PBM puts on a damn good show! They have the stage presence of U2 and the musicianship of the Rolling Stones!"--Sergei Fedorov, NHL superstar, former Detroit Red Wing
"These guys can ROCK! They will break and break big!"--Kenny Olson, guitarist for Kid Rock and the Twisted Brown Trucker Band
"This lot deserves a record deal! Go and see them live."--Honey Records, UK
"If Ska needed a swift kick in the arse, the end result might sound something like PBM (aka Poor Boy Music). They've rejuvenated the wilting art of incorporating a massive horn section in their Rock tirades. They highly impressed many at SXSW so, as a warning, hold on lest you get blown away too."--Cincinnati City Beat, 2005
"PBM’s ability to work a crowd was dazzling. That might have something to do with the fact they’ve had the better part of 7 years to become a cohesive unit. Remarkably, while there were a great deal of high school students peppering the horde of people packed into the small, smoke-filled concert venue, there was an impressive number of adults enjoying the sounds of these 7 guys, also."--Cupacino Standing Room Only Review
