About Barb Cheron A tasteful blend of soulful jazz and playful blues infused with a rhythmic intensity. Barb Cheron is a Madison Area Music Award Winner - Best Instrumentalist of the Year, Best Blues Song, and Best Jazz Song of the year!With her combination of technical skills and soulful phrasing, Barb Cheron has been entertaining audiences for many years. Her eclectic style has led to her playing in the all female jazz ensemble, MZ Communication, her successful duo with singer/songwriter Marianne Flemming, a jazz/blues duo with John Jacobs (self-released CD, Bistro, 2006). In addition, Barb is an accomplished band leader. Her CD, Running Free, featuring Nicky Sund and Ben Johnson is now available through CD Baby.Trained at the Milwaukee Conservatory of Music, Barb also studied with renowned jazz guitarists Roger Brotherhood, Cliff Frederiksen and Don Linke. In addition, she studied classical guitar with Professor Javier Calderon from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. “Cheron’s musical reach keeps growing…a truly interesting improviser.
