While everybody was going around saying "Hip-Hop is dead", R-Stonze was at work in the lab perfecting his craft. Music is in search of young, fresh new faces, and the raw talent to back all of that up. What happened to the artist who are really in love with making music, the ones who put their soul into it? If you find yourself asking the same question, then look no further. The essence of Hip-Hop is here and its in the truest form, and that would be R-Stonze.
Ryan D'Mario Whetstone aka "R-Stonze" grew up listening to hip-hop's late greats such as, Tupac, B.I.G., Big Pun, and Big L. Back in the late 80's and early 90's, hip-hop was leaning more toward emcees that had the ability to rock the mic with lyrics. That is what drives R-Stonze to be on top of his writing, no matter what type of song it is. R-Stonze is currently 21 years of age (December 16th), and well ahead of his time as far as creating, writing, and recording his songs. He writes all of his music, and has a good ear when it comes to selection a certain type of track that fits him. R-Stonze is the CEO of his own label which he calls "Stakk Money Ent."
Stonze is a native of Harlem, NY, but calls Cleveland, Ohio his home. R-Stonze's eastcost presence reminds you of "The Diplomats," "Fabolous," and "Cassidy," just to name a few. R-Stonze put together his label "StaKK Money Ent." in the summer of 2005, and owns his publishing to his label through ASCAP. R-Stonze has a sound that is crispy, clean, and his voice helps attract you to his music. His ability to write songs in a way to make you feel like you are in the scenes he describes is amazing. He word play is beyond his time, and that's one of his greatest attributes. The way he rides the track from start to end alone is enough to make you want to hear more of his music.
R-Stonze is unique because he can adjust his writing style to fit any song. Along with doing that, his overall state of emotion changes, as if the song is a different scene in a movie, and that's how he draws his listeners in. R-Stonze is a hip-hop artist, but his lyrical content is for more then just the streets. Along side all of the gunplay and drugselling, Stonze can still make songs that present or leave the listener with a positive message or outcome. R-Stonze's look is what really sets everything off. He has a face that can be marketed for almost anything, while still safely keeping his hip-hop image safe. You can see he's one of the people you would spot out of a group and assumed that they rapped, just because of the presence they give off.
R-Stonze is building a buzz online, with his official myspace page boasting well over 50,000 total plays since being created in late 2006. Along side of his myspace success, he has landed in the Myspace rap charts on more then one accasion. In mid August, R-Stonze was ranked at no. 2 on the Ohio rap charts on myspace. The StaKK Money movement is alive and well, and people are starting to run with his movement. The city of Cleveland has something to really look foward to once he gets signed, or starts getting some major attention.
"Still That Humble," R-Stonze's first official debut album, released under his label StaKK Money Ent. is set for release in March, 2008. This album features production from upcoming producers "Lokken Load Ent." who are cosigned by Midi Mafia. Midi Mafia are the producers of 50 Cent's hit "21 Questions featuring Nate Dogg." R-Stonze is preparing for his album release, and his trying to attract as much attention his way as possible. Also, R-Stonze is building his name through mixtapes with local and well known deejays. He's attacking the music industry from all angles, and he won't stop until a label hands him a major contract.
