Johnny "J" is a 20-year music industry veteran who started producing professionally at the age of 16. Johnny "J" has sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Johnny has worked with an array of artist, but for the most part, he is known for producing more than 150 records for the late Tupac Shakur (2PAC). He is often compared to producers such as Rick Rubin and Dr. Dre.Johnny was born Johnny "?", in Juarez, Mexico. Raised in South Central, Los Angeles by his adopted parents, whom his father is African American, and his mother is Mexican American. Now acquirring the name Johnny Jackson. Not knowing his true name, and identity professionally the name Johnny "J" just stuck. He attributes his distinctive sound in his music to his heritage, and listening to the Sounds Of Philadelphia, Motown, and Stax Records, brought home by his father. At the age of three his father bought him a drum set, which is a major contribution to his future success. After getting kicked out of the Guitar Center, and other electronic stores, Johnny finally bought a drum machine, keyboards, and other music instruments to produce records.This self-taught musician started creating tracks while in the high school drum line, as the first chair. He attended Washington Preparatory High School, in Los Angeles, and was in the marching band. Though, he received a full scholarship to attend the Berkelee School Of Music in Boston, he chose not to attend. Rightfully so, immediately after high school he produced his first platinum single "Knockin Boots" for fellow classmate and artist Candyman, with a platinum album "Ain't No Shame In My Game" to follow. Johnny's hit with Candyman made him the first platinum selling rap artist on Epic Records in 1990. It also garnered him Grammy and American Music Award nominations for the album, and single.This hit garnered Johnny major-label success, and later paved the way for the platinum that was to follow. After meeting 2Pac (in 1992), when he heard an underground record from Big Syke, he recorded nine songs with 2Pac in three days. Following those recordings, in 1993, Johnny produced 2PAC's/ThugLife's hit single "Pour Out A Little Liquor"--(from the multi-iplatinum selling Above The Rim soundtrack) and the movie score of the "Above The Rim" the movie. The song also appeared on ThugLife's Vol I album that went platinum. Johnny also produced a song on 2Pac's third solo album released in 1995, "Me Against The World" titled (Death Around The Corner). These two songs were from the original nine songs that Johnny recorded with 2Pac in 1992.The rest was music history in the making, with 2Pac and Johnny "J"'s chemistry. In 1996, Johnny "J" produced and co-wrote eleven songs on 2Pac's double cd "All Eyez On Me", which sold more than 15 million records in the U.S. alone. 2Pac's first singe (How Do U Want It) off the album sold more than 3 million copies, and was Pac's first number one song, all across Billboard Magazine's music charts. Making this album the first rap album to enter the Billboards top 200 albums number 1 spot upon its initial release, and raps first double cd. The album and single was later nominated for Grammy awards, American Music Awards and winning a Soul Train Music Award for Best Rap Song.Prior to 2Pac's untimely death, Johnny had produced and co-wrote over 100 songs with him, Those recordings are now posthumous releases Johnny produced 17 songs on "Until The End Of Time" and "Better Dayz" albums alike, "Still I Rize" three songs, "2Pac's Greatest Hits" seven songs, which has garnered sales in the tens of millions. After losing his musical partner, Johnny ventured into producing other artist, and movie soundtracks.The first was the artist Jon B who was introduced to Johnny after he asked 2PAC who produced his records? (While filming the video for "How do U Want It") in which Johnny later produced the 2PAC/Jon B collaboration "Are You Still Down", off Jons "Cool Relax" cd (which was an original 2Pac song titled "Tongue Kissin"). Both the album and single each sold over 1 million copies. The first rap artist Johnny produced after his musical partner was killed was Bizzy Bone (from the group Bone Thugz N Harmony). The collaboration spawned a Gold album "Heavenz Movie", from the two singles that Johnny produced "Thugz Cry" and "Nobody Can Stop Me".Johnny has produced and scored music for a number of movies, and soundtracks. Johnny has produced and scored music for movies such as, Blood Diamond, The Fan, The Big Hit, (Mark Wahlbergs) last recorded song "Don't Sleep" Gang Related, SuperCop, and many others. The DVD release of the documentary Thug Angel Johnny scored, which sold over a million copies. Later on scoring the Oscar nominated Documentary film "Tupac Resurrection", and producing a multi-platinum album soundtrack of the same name to follow.Johnny has his label KLOCK WORK Entertainment in which he plans to produce artist from his label, in all music genres. he plans to secure a joint venture with a company that has the same visions as he does, if not release albums independently. Johnny "J" has millions of fans waiting for him to release an artist.Currently he is producing Tatyana Ali's sophomore album. The 2008 release of Lil Eazy E's "The Prince Of Compton" as well as Lil Eazy's group The Kings Of L.A. There are other collaborations in the works for Johnny J" in 2008, including a DVD documentary about his life... ..

My musical influences are from producers such as Gamble & Huff, Holland Dozier Holland, Quincy Jones, and the music of the 60's, 70's, and 80's. The artist that have most influenced me are James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Hall & Oates, Aretha Franklin, Shirley Murdock, Anita Baker, Earth, Wind & Fire, Roger Troutman, Curtis Mayfield, and The O'Jays. There are many other artist that have influenced me, but I've been most influenced by myself the legendary Johnny "J".
