Soul Syndicate do urban music, but not like anyone else. They fuse hip hop, grime, roots and dancehall music with conscious rap, sweet sung vocals and turntablism, Producer and DJ Cut La Vis spanning many genres and even creating new ones in the process. On stage they rip through straight up hip hop bangers such as “Live Life Love”, “Music”, “Get Your Fists Up”, “No Fear” and “True Grit”, hard as nails grime rhythms “Roughneck Ragga” and “All Out War”, bumping dancehall vibes like “In the Club” and “Skanky Weekend” and the roots and dub influenced “Mary Mary” and “Phat Like That”.
Lyrically inspired by the politics of Public Enemy, the Edutainment style of KRS ONE and the reality rap of UK life of Skinnyman and Black Twang, Main MCs Big Daddy Spliff and HDot MDot aka Hank Marvin give their heart to the microphone and leave no subject untouched. From the evils of Gun Crime and the secrecy of the new world order to living it up in the club on a Friday Night and the joys of music, they bless every rhythm with whatever is on their mind, hence the “Soul” in Soul Syndicate. The “Syndicate” part reflects the extended family of talented MCs and singers who make up the collective.
