Calm like a Riot

About Me

Reviews:
SURFACE UNSIGNED: The second band of the night was Worcester based four-piece Calm Like A Riot. Throwing together a wide range of sounds and styles, it’s a direction that shouldn’t work but the band brings it all together for something fresh and exciting. Rap, Hip-Hop, Rock, Funk and Indie all mixed into a compelling off-the-wall direction that sits somewhere between Scroobius Pip, GLC and Beastie Boys, yet is very much their own. A sharp sound and a flawless, flowing delivery – the band gave a great performance that ranked amongst one of the best of the night.

Office cleaner: "they're a bit loud and there is a bit too much of F-this and F-that. And they never clean their dirty mugs."
Steve Goodwin: "the most energy consuming band I have ever heard"

‘Calm Like a Riot’ are attempting to entertain but irritate the world with their style of funk, thrash British hip-hop.
Without whinging about life and girlfriends these men of their music can match any young overly emotional band with hard hitting hits that grab you by the throat and stick in it until you know what they are talking about.
With Bass lines straight out of the don’t fuck with me riff book, guitar so alien to time and volume that you know it’s meant to be that way. All set in front of percussion production so heavy not even He-man could lift it. This is made to make the audience sit up and pay attention to the wild rambling of a lyrist with more political opinion than knowledge about politics.
If you are fed up of want the music industry is pumping down our throats like oil stolen from Baghdad and want songs with real meaning find out where they are play get their CD before they are arrested by the thought police as musical terrorist.
If you've continued to read to this point thanks, and if your interested please enjoy the videos and demos, and we'd be glad to hear any feedback or any interest in gigs...we're worth watching live, just for the jumping about and tantrums.
