I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

My current project, a cinema verite documentary and accompanying book about adolescent girls in residential psychiatric treatment centers, begins shooting in April. My cinematographer is the lovely and talented Alice Brooks . The title of the film is Better the Devil You Know. We're trying to fund it by raising $50k a buck at a time. Visit my website for more details and to donate. Help us teach girls to shoot Super 8 film and tell their own stories!
My first book, a memoir entitled Loud in the House of Myself, was purchased by W.W. Norton in June 2007. The ms was turned in Jan 15 and the book will be out in 2009. Huge thanks to my awesome agent Penn Whaling at the Ann Rittenberg Literary Agency and my editor Jill Bialosky. The book is about tattoos and Jesus, though not necessarily in that order.
I am also a tribal fusion bellydancer, and I perform regularly with Alchemy Tribal Collective . I study with Sarah Johansson Locke and Sera Hoppe , and with my yoga hero Dechen Thurman at Jivamukti .
My other obsessive passion is making things with yarn. My knitting/crochet portfolio is here . If you want to see a bunch of pictures of tattooed and pierced people wearing things made from alpacas, head on over. My knitting and I were even featured in The New York Times Sunday style section! I accept commissions when I have time.

I'd like to meet:

Funny people with big brains who don't lie. If you fit those qualifications, we'll probably get along. Oh, and I'd also like to meet the people who spin Malabrigo yarn so I can have sex with them to show my gratitude. Same goes for any of the surviving members of VU (but especially John Cale.) I'd like to meet Jim White again to continue the conversation.

PLEASE DON'T SEND ME FRIEND REQUESTS IF YOU DON'T KNOW ME IN REAL LIFE. NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR WEBCAM OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY!
