Jeremy Brett was most famed for portraying the character of Sherlock Holmes in the Granada series, "Sherlock Holmes Mysteries". He also played another well recognised part: Freddy Eynsford-Hill, in "My Fair Lady". He also appeared in a televised version of "On Approval", and was also recorded for television as the lead, in "that Scottish Play."
He also appeared on television in "Armchair Theatre" (a series of plays) in which he performed in two episodes:
"Something to Declare" - 1964, and in
"Picture of Dorian Gray" - 1961 as Dorian Gray

He suffered from manic-depression, which was only caught in his later years.
When not on stage he preferred the company of friends, and was often the life of the party. He was usually found near the piano, or musicians, singing for everyone.
