About Me

I am Synth Girl.
I like to write and produce for other artists (and occasionally myself) - check out some of the tunes I have created above.
I also play synths for artists/bands - I have played at Glastonbury and have done gigs in Europe (highlight was Berlin) and all over London and the UK. See my top friends for people I have worked with.
Being Synth Girl, naturally I like a piece of hardware. I have 4 synths (my favourite being a novation bass station - so light to carry around yet such a meaty sound!), and 2 keytars which are great for showing off on stage. There is always more synth to be had though, and I intend to scour car boot sales in the farthest reaches of random Britain until I come across some dusty piece of vintage analogue gear being sold for pittance by some old grandad clearing out his loft.... Thats the sort of stuff synth girl's dreams are made of!!

Influences:I grew up listening to:
Neil Young, Dylan and Led Zepellin - thats what my Dad was into.
I like 90's East Coast hip hop & my favourite from that era are:
A Tribe Called Quest. I also like Nas, KRS 1, Eric B & Rakim, Pharcyde, Mobb Deep, Wu Tang, Brand Nubian and some of the artists they sampled, Marlena Shaw, Quincy Jones, Lalo Schiffin, Ben Sidran and loads more i've forgotten. I also like sample based beats on labels like Mo Wax & Ninja Tunes, eg DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, Dr Octagon, Wiseguys and Aim.
Bands I wish I'd seen before they quit, died or got too famous:
The Cure, The White Stripes, Jefferson Airplane, The Stone Roses, Kings of Leon, The Velvet Underground, The Gossip.
Right now, I'm inspired by:
Dance music. But with a live element and attitude - looking back to Liquid Liquid, James White & the Blacks, ESG, Grace Jones, Delta 5 and bringing it up to date with LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, The Rapture, Whitey. I also like the stuff out on Kitsune, Modular, Ed Banger - the obvious (Justice, SMD) and new discoveries - Whitest Boy Alive (Burning is a great song), Black Keys (Veni Vedi Vici) and Tom Vek.
When I'm ill I listen to classical music:
Gorecki (DARK shit), Rachmanninov (I used to be able to play one of his) and Chopin.
