About Me

MY FAVE QUOTES:

"Security and freedom are not the same...in fact they are opposites.... The more security you seek, the less freedom you have. The people with the most security are in jail. That is why it is called maximum security...If you want freedom, you need to let go of security. Employees desire security and entepreneurs seek freedom.
-- ROBERT KIYOSAKI's RICH DAD (from the Rich Dad Poor Dad series.)
"It is important to note that we will never actual own anything. We only possess what we can take on our eternal journey. We are just renting space and time, so our success is not measured by our bank balance. We live in a materialistic world and to become truly prosperous we need to ascertain that when we reverse our conditioned minds way of thinking, we find (in whatever form our image-creation observes creativity) a universal spirit guiding us on an authentic life course.
--MICHAEL LEVY 2004
"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
--- DR. SUESS
"...May you trust your highest power that you are exactly where you are meant to be..."
--- Prayer of ST. THERESA
"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."
--WILL ROGERS
"What comes from the heart touches the heart."

PLEASE DONATE GENEROUSLY...
I want to stress to you the importance of self-breast examinations. I know that there has been some controversy lately in the media regarding the usefulness of self exams. Thank God, I was able to detect the cancer at an early stage. I attribute that to finding the lump when I did. Men, I am talking to you too. Although the statistics are much lower, breast cancer does happen to men too!
This is a cause I truly believe in. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago. Treatment was the hardest 2 years of my life. First surgery, then 6 months of chemotherapy, 2 months of radiation and countless stays in the hospital due to pneumonia and extremely low white blood cell counts. Not to mention losing my hair. Anyways, it's behind me now... I am happy to say that I am now free of cancer.
I was asked to speak at Picture the Cure, a fundraiser where photographers and musicians donated their works and time to raise money to bring us closer to a cure. You can read my speech/testimonal and see the wonderful pictures that photographer and event organizer, Irina Souki took here: PICTURE THE CURE PHOTOS
"Cancer can be beat. And it will take positive actions from people like you and me. Every little thing counts. From prevention to awareness. A small donation can collectively make a world of difference. I believe in a world without cancer. Do you?"

My Interests

Learning and self improvement is my passion. Especially learning things on my bass, guitar and drums. I get a kick out of doing something that I couldn't do before - especially something that I thought I could never do.

I love the people in my life more than anything -- my friends and my family. I believe that life is too short so you have to do the things you love right now.

I wanna be a rockstar!!.. but in the mean time, I spend my days working in my tiny cubicle staring at a computer. A stepping stone just until I get to live my passion - which is playing music, teaching it or doing something in the music industry.

Oh yeah, and for those of you who asked, I'm Filipino - born in the Philippines and moved to Canada when I was 2.

One of my newest hobbies is taking photographs - You can see my pictures at my FLICKR PHOTO SITE

I'd like to meet:

People who are down to earth, Musicians, Artists, People with similar interests, People who want to make a difference

Music:

Currently listening to Wolfmother, Silversun Pickups, Damien Rice, some of my 80's mixed tapes

In No Particular Order other than the Beatles being #1: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Paul Weller, Nirvana, U2, David Sylvian, Japan, Duran Duran, The Jam, The Style Council, Coldplay, Radiohead, Powderfinger, Beastie Boys, Janes Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure, The Smiths, Jesus and Mary Chain, Pink Floyd, Steve Earle, Eagles, The Who, David Bowie, anything Motown

Heroes (awesome!!!)Grey's Anatomy, Lost, , Battlestar Galactica, 24, CSI, Survivor, The new Dr. Who, Torchwood, IT Crowd,
RIP: Buffy, Arrested Development, Dead Like Me, My So Called Life, Six Feet Under

I love watching TV shows on DVD!!! No commercials and I end up getting hooked. TV shows are getting better and better. The story lines for the above shows are so well written.

Books:

NON-FICTION: Just recently read "Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell. Brilliant. "Blink" by him is also great. In the same vein is Freakanomics by Stephen Levitt. (Books that give you something to think about.)
"Peace Is Every Step" by Thich Nhat Hanh, Zen Guitar, Think and Grow Rich, Man's Search For Meaning, Unlimited Power, The Artist's Way, Superlearning
AUDIOBOOKS: Currently listening to the Rich Dad Poor Dad series (What the Rich Teach Their Kids about Money - That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not!) by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter. It has given me an entirely different perspective about money and has actually made me reassess some of my goals in life. Well written, extremely thought provoking and possibly life changing! (we'll see in time.)
Anthony Robbins audio books are incredible. I know anything with an infomercial is questionable (I had my doubts.) But I've listened to just about everything by this guy. He gets his ideas across brilliantly. And he is truly motivating.
FICTION: Just recently read, A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey. Whether it is a novel or an autobiography, it was a very moving story.
The Alchemist (anything by Paulo Coelho), The Chrysalids, anything by Anne Rice (I love the romanticism in her writing), One, The Fountainhead

Heroes:

JOHN, PAUL, GEORGE and RINGO, Bono, Oprah, Madonna, M'shelle N'Degeodecello, Kim Gordon, Kim Deal, Tina Weymouth, Carole Kaye, MY MOM
