With the ever growing popularity of dance music, DJ’s have never been as popular.
So why has Barrow always been so slow to catch up? Local DJ’s
Gaz Donning and
Chris Turton have decided its time to do something about it with the birth of FullStop. Not only will this event showcase some of the finest talent from around the globe it will also help raise money and awareness for the local N.S.P.C.C, which Gaz and Chris feel is a highly important charity.
The organisers of FullStop, Gaz Donning and Chris Turton.
Gaz Donning has been found firmly behind the decks for the last 4 years. Starting his DJ career around the bars of barrow, playing weekly at Bar Cairo, Healey’s and running Banddj with Chris Turton.
With a recent move to Manchester, Gaz Donning now co-runs Method with fellow DJ Stealth1. Show casing some of the UK’s finest DJ’s which include Pete Heller, Miguel Manzano [sankeys] Jon McCabe [Airtight, Metropolis] Sam I am [The Priory] Martin Mcnulty [Kindergarden] and Phil Caine [Digital Underground].
Gaz is know making regular trips around the country to play at other nights such as Nottingham's "we're not normal" and Middlesborough's "Kill The Disco" to name but a few.
Currently studying an Audio Engineering degree at Manchester’s SSR and still making trips back up to Cumbria to play along side Phil Caine and Craig Kirkby at Underground DJs + Digital Beats.

Chris Turton has been playing the decks for 3 years now; breaking through from being a humble bedroom DJ to trying to get his foot in the Barrow music scene by playing local bars and hosting his own night (Banddj). He started (along with Gaz Donning) with a weekly slot at Bar Cairo trying to push forward the house and techno scene in a predominantly scouse house area. For the past year now he has been making some appearances at Paulo’s wine bar but has not started anything permanent as he is planning a move to Ibiza in the summer to forward his DJ career.
Chris is currently studying a computer music production course at Kendal college and is hoping to further his production skills by enrolling for university in September at Manchester’s SSR to study audio engineering.
Chris will be making appearances at local bars until his move and has a date at Manchester’s Method night set up for early February. Some dates are also in the pipeline for appearances at Digital Underground.

In order for FullStop to be a truly alternative experience when compared to the clubbing and dance music scene in Barrow, we are aiming for atmosphere above all else. We all know it is people who provide a good atmosphere; however, we aim to increase the experience with visualizations and trickery from local film makers and artists Mary Stark + Al Sanderson. Not only will this add an interesting edge to the night, but will also expose young people to the potential for art and music projects in the local area, and help merge the arts into a community, rather than just sporadic, under exposed events.
There will also be an appearance from photographer,
James Becket
, in order to capture the night for the website, in order to help publicize future events, and of course, for the fond memories.
