Chumley's Toy is a diverse rock outfit from the Tampa, Florida area. Chumley's Toy has been compared to everything from Evanescence, Lacuna Coil and Alice In Chains, to acts such as Incubus and Fiona Apple. "While it's flattering to be compared with so many great artists, I like to think that we create in a vacuum as much as possible and just write songs that we enjoy playing." says singer Shelly. She continues, "Maybe that's why the artists that we are compared with are so diverse." As Scott Harrell from Tampa's local cultural periodical, Creative Loafing put it, "Chumley's Toy breaks metal's strict no-hooks rule, and allows a bit of Far-esque songwriting sensibility to shine through the riffage."
Chumley's Toy has gained a great amount of exposure since the release of their self-titled debut album and is a featured artist on XM Satellite Radio and are also a constant fan request chart-climber on internet radio. As well as tearing up the stage at the Vans Warped Tour two years running, Chumley's Toy also has acquired endorsements with nationally recognized companies ElectroVoice, ESP Guitars, DDrum, Attack Drumheads and Dean Markley Strings. Such opportunities have given Chumley's Toy a great fan following outside of their strong Tampa, Florida base.
